ABUJA - A 51-year-old engineer, was, yesterday, charged before an Abuja Magistrate Court, by the police, for allegedly deceiving one Mrs Ronke Ajibola and collecting N200,000 from her.
The Engineer, Toyin Bazar of Gosa Village, Abuja, was charged with cheating, an offence punishable under Section 322 of the Penal Code. The accused denied the allegation while the prosecutor asked for a hearing date.
Magistrate Bashar Attairu Alkali admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum, who must be a civil servant of any grade level and reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
Earlier, police prosecutor, Yilkudi Dungji, told the court that on October 29, 2010, the complainant reported at the Lugbe police station, that the accused deceived her, collected the money from her and disappeared until he was sighted only recently, adding that the accused confessed to collecting the money from the complainant during investigation.
