Another Bomb blast rocks polling unit in Maiduguri

A bomb blast rocked Unguwar Doki polling unit in Maiduguri at about 12.30 today killing one female police officer and left no fewer than five others injured.


The explosion took place as voting commenced after a successful accreditation of voters.

In Osun state, election in Ife Federal Constituency was suspended following violence and killings.

In Lagos State voting went on smoothly in most parts of the state after a hitchfree accreditation of voters.

One person died in Brass in Bayelsa State and a sitting member of the House of Representatives arrested following attempt to cart away electoral materials by the lawmaker, seeking return to the House on the platform of the Labour Party, together with a band of about 200 youths frrom INEC office in the area, a move resisted by security agents.
