A new international airport in Nigeria is on the way. The new international airport is a project of the Lagos State government and it would be situated in Lekki area of Lagos State. Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, according to what Gistmaster.com gathered, is bent on ensuring that the airport is completed within 2 years.
Lagos State Commissioner for commerce and industry, Adeniyi Oyemade said Lekki International airport is expected to gulp about $650 million (US Dollars). The government is working with some private investors on the airport project.

With this planned Airport, Lagos will have 3 airports at Ikeja, Muritala & at Lekki, lagos. Getting a larger and newer Airport will be nice for Lagos. However, will it not be better to expand and modernize the existing International Airport (Muritala Moh'd). How about old Ikeja Airport? What will that be used for? Domestic flights only?

y not build a rail subway....or trolley lines,Other countries have airports in each states bringing air tansportation close 2 its citizens. They should have atleast 300 miles distant 4rm Muritala 4 a new airport location

my brother you need to check out the renovation going on at the local airport.The mma belongs to the federal not the state,the lekki airport is going to be international standard own by lagos state.

the construction of the rail system in lagos state have been commenced since last year and is going to link some major cities together.

It's a good idea for a state government to embark on such project but it would have been good to put the existing one in shape, like air conditioner and other amenities that are lacking in an international airport, Muritala I'Tn aiport is not up to satandard. There is no need constructing another one and let them construct one in the East too because most travelers are Easteners.
