d basic things my parents taught me while growing up was
to know God: knowing about God at an early age of my life shaped me morally, especially when my parents werent there to look after me or monitor (like in boarding school),i knew what was right and wrong and wasnt influenced by peer pressure
to work hard academically: my parents made me understand that with good academic background, u could attain many heights in life.
to be honest, obedient and respectful: i rem the day my dad gave me 5 strokes of cane on my buttocks coz i disrespected my elder brother... in his words, "Respect is reciprocal"
to be confident, bold and smart: this helped me alot and is still helping me in my association with people. i can enter any place i want to without fear or favour.
to be very meticulous domestically & cleanliness: wow! this was the most challenging. as kids, we were bound to scatter things, like coming back from school and flinging ur school sandals under the bed, dropping ur school bag anywhere & everywhere...but my parents made me realise early that everything has a position were it's kept. then my parents always carried out inspection in our rooms to look out for something that wasnt in the right place, and if u are found wanting,u wud pick-pin...Today, my friends call me Ms Prim & Proper cause u hardly find me, my house or anything surrounding me untidy. i take my time/great care in doings things, domestically and otherwise...
I cant mention all but the above values instilled on me by my parents has made me who i am today and i wud keep thanking them for that.
