It's a common practice during church/christian marriage to hear the officiating minister asking wedding couples to repeat such words as; '...will you take...to be your lawfully wedded wife/husband,for better for worse,in sickness and in health,for richer,for poorer till death do you part' and the congregation usually enthused 'amen'.Whether this church 'ritual' was biblical nobody cared a hoot about it let alone the effect of such confessions on the marriage.My position stems from the Bible positions in Proverbs 18:21-The power of life and death is in the tongue-;James 3:6-...the tongue is a fire,...;and it is set on fire of hell.Also,the scriptures said that thou shall decree a thing and it shall be established unto you.This being the case,why decree sickness,poverty and even worse condition upon/on marriages?

@Chik001 The scripture is explicitly clear on the issue of health as it is very possible to live without being sick.Isaiah 53:4-5 summarily showed that by His stripes we WERE healed.Note that the healing is not anticipated because it is a done deal and if that is the case,a believer cannot be sick.Just hold on before you loose your cool,remember that Romans 8:17 said that we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ;what does it suggest to you?When you read 2 Peter 1:4,10-11,it talks about the new creation being a partaker of the divine nature of God.This means that a christian who is born again is not a mere mortal as he has divinity dwelling in him and for this reason,he cannot be sick.In 1 Peter 2:24,the scriptures said that Christ bore the sins of the world in His body and by His stripes we were healed.However,talking about sickness,it is a baby in Christ that needs healing.Galatians 4:1 makes this very clear for as long as an heir remains a child,there is no difference between him and a servant.Also,Matthew 15:21-28 describe healing as the children's bread;so you can choose to remain a child and continue to ask or need healing when divine health is your present hour inheritance in Christ.In conclusion,the problem is that most christians do not know who they really are and what right they have in Christ Jesus.No wonder the scriptures says in Hosea 4:6 my people suffer for lack of knowledge (information).When you know that you no longer live for yourself but unto God in Christ Jesus then you would also know that divine health is a higher revelation than healing.

...most time I use to wonder why other religions that copied from Christianity now see themselves as better... ...I came to a conclusion that...the so called body of Christ are so divided...each person sprout from wherever and give their own interpretation of the word... ...having clearly read it that a house that have division will not stand...while the powers and principalities stand in legion...regimental...organized...ready to attack...and destroy... ...Heavens light...forever...my guide...

Ok.... I now hear what you are saying. It's true, some things have crept in that should not be. Haven't thought about it relating to marriage vows but it's a very good point you bring out. I will take a look at this myself also.
It is very important to know who you are as a Christian and who you are in Jesus Christ.
