MAYBE the trend started with the breakup of delectable actress Stephanie Okereke's and Super Eagles' defender, Iloanyusi's wedding. Theirs was like a marriage made in heaven and the envy of every aspiring couple. She was a celebrated actress, he a celebrated footballer. Soon after the wedding however the beginnings of trouble emerged as Stephanie started complaining about violence and battering and soon the husband weighed in with accusation of infidelity and abandonment. And it was not long after before Stephanie moved out of the house and has gone on to build another life for herself.

and Dejo
SHE is one of the best, most beautiful and enchanting actresses of her generation, he is the globetrotting, bucks laden boss of HITTS Entertainment outfit. Maybe if there was one marriage that many did not give a chance to last it was that of MonaLisa Chinda Dejo. They had met when Momalisa was still a theatre arts undergraduate at the University of Port Harcourt with rumors making the rounds then that she had snatched him from her friend and former flat mate Rita Dominic. They got married and their love seemed to be waxing stronger every day. Monalisa had granted several interviews attesting to the fact that Dejo was her world. That world soon started unraveling as stories of irreconcilable differences started rearing their ugly head, before anyone could say break up Monalisa had moved out of the house and is still staying alone with her daughter while the record label boss continues with his globe-trotting and money making.
Chika Ike
A few weeks ago, the news came through that delectable actress and Nollywood star Chika Ike's marriage had broken up. The breakup of the marriage was shock to many people because Chika was considered by many people to be one of the good girls of Nollywood. She before now had been scandal free and had married a deacon in one of the Pentecostal churches. The husband had become a calming factor in the life of the young woman who was rumored to have dated a randy movie director/actor who obviously had also dated every other star he had worked with. It was not long after the wedding however that rumors started circulating that her husband was battering her and that the pretty faced quiet lady was not all that glittering away from the public eye. It was also revealed that she preferred to spend most of her time at movie locations hobnobbing with pretty boys instead of spending time with her family. The curse of Nollywood, infidelity, reared its ugly head. Accusations have been threaded by both parties with rumors making the rounds that her husband had put another girl in the family way and that the actress had chosen to date other younger men outside her marriage. Those rumors remain unsubstantiated but Chika's ex-boyfriend has been singing himself hoarse claiming that she is not the saint everybody thinks she is and is as bad as they come in Nollywood. He claims that she'd married her husband because of his money and not out of love and that she also is not very interested in his church activities which was the reason why she'd been spending so much time outside her marital home. As it stands right now, another Nollywood marriage has gone sploof in the air and it seems this trend will continue because we have heard severally that Ngozi Ezeonu is having problems in her marriage. There were suggestions recently that Olu Jacobs and wife Joke had broken up. Rumors are also rife that Oge Okoye's Marriage to her Belgium based husband has also gone down the drain. The question then is what is the reason why so many marriages in Nollywood break up? We will seek out the answers for you next week.
