The idea of mounting security check points in and  around Abuja in an attempt to checkmate the almost 'invisible' Boko Haram is ill-conceived and without being immodest,an outdated security strategy in tackling the menace of this elusive sect.Terrorism is unarguably a very difficult and challenging security problem considering that even the most organised countries of the world still task and stretch their security outfits to almost breaking point.Worst still when in the Nigerian case, the group operate without almost or clearly known leader(s) and have adopted guerrilla tactics to unlesh mayhem on the system. This being the case, check points cannot achieve the desired result.

If anything, this calls for an overhaul of our security system such that there would be a departure from the old, outlandish and out of touch tactics to a system that is very much aBosom  with modern security approach. You may want to know, generally, security in Nigeria depend largely on human effort which is contrained in so many ways. There no doubt need to move on and join the first clas security world and its sophistication.Rather than mount road blocks, surveilance camaras would be a better option. This way, surreptitious movements and entries would be detected with ease.Check points as it is in Abuja right now expose the citizenry unnecessarily as any attack owing to the large crowd brought about by the checks, would be worse than what initially threat is intended to avert.

Economically, the nation has lost so much so far as some workers plying the routes where these checks are mounted have not been to work since the check started.Motorists also have their fair share of the loses as well as traders. The list is endless.Unknowingly, those manning the checks are even more vulnerable as in the process of checking the vehicles which is done manually, could be victims of what they are trying to prevent.Nigeria, the time to move from the use of only human effort in security operations is now.

Nigeria, the time to move from the use of only human effort in security operations is now.   This to me, is the best sentence and the answer to most of the security issues in Nigeria. We need to invest in more technological devices. It would save us so much money while helping us defeat terrorists like this Boko Haram sect.
