Chinaka Uchem and Victor Bayem were arrested in last two days. Uchem was arrested from Kolkata and Beyam from Delhi airport. Two of their associate are still absconding, police said
The four went to Sawhney International Western Union Money Transfer at Tilak Nagar Aug 31 on pretext of exchanging dollars. Then, they asked the 54-year-old proprietor Gurcharan Singh Sawhney to send one of their staff with them for purchasing artificial jewellery, police said.
Sawhney sent his employee Pooja with them. Travelling on the Delhi Metro, they reached Nawada Metro station, from where they sent her on with another Nigerian.
Meanwhile, Uchem and his friends returned to the office, broke all the CCTVs, strangled Sawhney and fled with dollars and pounds worth around Rs. 4 lakh, said Additional Commissioner of Police V. Renganathan.
Taking note of the incident, the Delhi Police have started an intensive drive to locate and deport the Nigerians staying in Delhi after the expiry of their visas.
They are many cases of drug peddling, lottery scams and other serious crimes in which Nigerians are involved, Renganathan said.
