The 24-year-old attacker joined the Camp Nou side at the age of 13 and has since developed into one of the best players in the world.
Messi has since won several individual honors and trophies at club level with the club, and the Argentina international has stressed that he has never been tempted to move on because of the perfect conditions with the club.
"Leaving Barcelona has never been in my head," Messi was quoted as saying by Radio Metro. "As long as things continue to go the way they go now, I have no intention of leaving."
The forward went on to explain that remarkable things occasionally happen to him on the pitch during Champions League games.
"When we play in the Champions League, it sometimes happens that opponents come up to me when I prepare to take a free kick and ask me whether I want to exchange jerseys after the game," he said.
Messi is currently in his native country preparing for the upcoming 2014 World Cup qualification campaign. Argentina host Chile in the Estadio Monumental on Friday, before traveling to Caracas to take on Venezuela the following Tuesday.
