65-yr-old man, son arrested for robbery

AKURE-A 65 years old father and his 24 years old son were amongst armed robbery suspects, kidnappers and fraudsters paraded by the Ondo State Police Command Wednesday.

All the suspects, according to the command, had been terrorising the people of the state in the last two months

Police Commissioner Sani Mogaji said in Akure that the father Isaac Suleiman, his son, Seun and two others, Ariyo Kayode and Adeniyi Adedeji were arrested over their alleged involvement in various armed robbery incidents in Akungba-Akoko area of the state.

Mogaji told newsmen in Akure that the police on October 21 arrested one Ogenekwweh Igagah, a leader of a kidnapping syndicate that had been terrorizing Delta, Rivers and Ondo states.

He said the gang had been collecting ransom from their victims and robbed them of their cars at gun point and later sold the cars at cheaper prices to a Port Harcourt based car dealer.

The Police Chief said televen exotic cars, ammunition and charms were recovered from the suspects that were picked up in various parts of the country.

The vehicles recovered from those paraded include One Toyota Avensis belonging to the Ekiti State Government, one black Infinity jeep, one Toyota Sienna, Honda Accord, Toyota Camry-2003 model, 2 Toyota Camry-2000 model, Toyota Corolla and one Honda Pilot SUV.

He added that one Mercedes Benz 190, one Honda car with number plate Rivers ET 726 PHC, five AK 49 riffles with 11 round of live ammunition were also recovered from the robbers.

Mogaji pointed out that cash of N3.3 million stolen by the gang of robbers that operated at one of the first generation banks in Owo last month was also recovered.

In the robbery the police killed two of the robbers while one policeman was equally killed during the bank robbery in Owo last month
