President Jonathan has approved the appointment of Abubakar Lamurde as the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to replace the outgone Mrs Farida Waziri.

Abubakar Lamurde, before the appointment, was the head of operations. He had earlier also acted as Chairman for a brief period before the appointment of Mrs Farida Waziri.

Farida Waziri had served as chairwoman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission since 2008 and had faced regular criticism over the alleged ineffectiveness of the agency under her watch. ....
