NO fewer than 30 people who were travelling from the southern part of the country to the North yesterday lost their lives in Okene, Kogi State after a fully loaded trailer nose-dived into a deep gully. An eyewitness said the accident occurred at about 9 am at a sharpe bend around Obangede junction, close to a police station at Ogaminana in Adavi Local Government Area.
The source added that the vehicle’s brakes failed as soon as it got to the junction and it flung its passengers into the gully.
Some policemen and members of the Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC) were on were on hand to take the injured passengers to the hospital in Okene while the dead ones were evacuated to the mortuary of the specialist hospital in Obangede.
It was gathered that the passengers had left Onitsha, Anambra State and were heading to the North as a result of security problems that is presently rocking the country.
The Kogi State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr. Sunday Maku, said he was yet to receive any report from the Ogori Unit Command.

The article says something about brake failure and you're here talking about bad roads.
Roads don't spoil braking system in cars, and the driver of that trailer should be charged with man-slaughter.
Brakes don't fail suddenly, it gives you signs like 2 months before it fails completely.
So blind haters who just can't see anything good in government should keep their mouths shut, because whatever they say shows how stupid they truly are.
