The former governor on Sunday broke his silence over his state of health in a telephone interview with Channels Television.

Rumours had been rife that Tinubu was paralysed and had travelled abroad to seek medical attention.

Tinubu said he was hale and hearty, saying his journey abroad was to perform some tasks that he would not have been able to do if he remained in the country.

Tinubu, who named one of the tasks he had travelled to perform as writing a book, said he found it unnecessary to address the press because he was leaving the country.

When asked when he would be returning to Nigeria, the former governor said he planned to return within the week but added that he would not be forced to rush home without completing the tasks that prompted his travelling.

He said, “I don't need to broadcast my trip. I am very happy that I have received so much attention, goodwill. My telephone has been ringing off the hook.”

Also, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Sunday Dare, Tinubu Media Organisation, on Sunday, described the rumour as a “malicious and patently false story.”

The TMO, which fingered political opponents as being behind the rumour, also quoted Tinubu as saying, “We are confronted with finding solutions to the more urgent problems of unemployment, grinding poverty, corruption, hopelessl
