With tattoos covering 98 percent of her body, multiple embedded horns into her head, implants on her chest and arms and sporting ferocious fangs, Guadalajara's "Vampire Woman" is challenging people's perception of what a housewife and mother should look like.
36 years old Maria Jose Cristerna is a mother of four who says she lives a "normal life," while running a tattoo shop, living life as a Vampire Woman.
She was married at 17 and was trained as a lawyer, but she gave all of that up as she reinvented her physical appearance.
Cristerna admitted to The Sun that she was in an abusive relationship, and that her "tattoos were a form of liberation for me."
"My body transformation has been a part of taking my taste to the extreme," Cristerna told AFP. "Life is short and sometimes we waste it on many things, so I've chosen beauty. And for me it's beautiful to be this way, so that's why I do it."
