Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel has denied the allegations of his administration having a killer squad and perpetrating ritual practices.

The governor said this while reacting to a book, Micro seconds away from death, written by his former Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Wale Adedayo.

Daniel made the denial in a press statement by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Sina Kawonise

A copy of the statement was made available to our correspondent in Abeokuta on Sunday.

The statement reads in part, “Almost all the claims and incidents in the book are pure fiction and were deliberately distorted and embellished to achieve the sinister aim of the author to tarnish the image of Otunba Daniel and discredit his administration.

“For instance, it was Adedayo and former Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Waliu Taiwo, who started the issue of the presence of a killer squad in Ogun State.

But Taiwo has since recanted and publicly begged for forgiveness for lying against the governor.

“It is therefore obvious that there is no credibility whatsoever in the phantom claim of Adedayo about the existence of a killer squad and ritual practices in the government of Ogun State. ”

The governor described the allegations of killer squads and rituals as designed purely as a tool of political vendetta against his person and government.

He said, “We restate that we run a decent administration that does not engage in any untoward or criminal acts in any way or form.

Those who were working against the government even when they were members of the administration would definitely cook up salacious tales and untruths to justify their perfidy.”
