The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says anyone found making or receiving calls while driving risks six months in prison.
The Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, citing the National Road Traffic Regulation (2012) in an interview with Punch, said drivers were not allowed to make or receive calls while using any form of wired or wireless earphones and hands-free.
Mr Kazeem said it was illegal to use AirPods, EarPods, or any hands-free. “Driving entails 100 per cent concentration, so you cannot be distracted. It is there in the regulation.
Mr Kazeem urged drivers to avoid any distractions, including speaking with passengers.

Big Brother Naija housemates, Boma and Tega seem to be done with the under the duvet action as the duo is spotted kissing aggressively. This is coming following the outrage directed at Tega after a steaming ‘under the duvet action’ with Boma despite her married status.
On Saturday evening, the duo is spotted on the couch kissing intensely as Boma lies over Tega while reaching into her pant. This sparked a second wave of outbursts at Tega over the lack of respect for her marriage.
The Coalition of Eastern Non-Governmental Organisations, CENGOs, Akwa Ibom State chapter said it has rescued a fifteen-year-old resident of Ikot Abasi Idem Ibesikpo Local Government Area of the State whose penis was allegedly cut by his biological father, Peter Raymond.
The State Coordinator of CENGOs, Mr. Israel Ekanem who disclosed this to our correspondent in Uyo said the victim was picked up by the roadside almost dead by one of his members.
He said the victim was immediately taken to Shelter Afrique police station, Uyo and was treated in the police clinic free of charge.
His words, ‘There is a pathetic case of male child abuse happening in Uyo where a biological father of a 15-year-old boy allegedly cut off the boy’s penis.
“The boy was picked up by a good Samaritan by the roadside about a week ago almost dead. He took him to Shelter Afrique Police Station. The DPO in a bid to save the boys life took him to hospital where he was revived after one week and the hospital bill settled by the police.”
The NGOs’ coordinator narrated that after the boy was discharged from the hospital, the police took him back to his father’s house but only saw the stepmother and instructed her to report to the station with her husband when he comes back adding that instead of doing so, the couple allegedly abandoned the child at the compound and absconded.
“After discharge, the Police took the boy to where the father and stepmother live and handed him over to the stepmother in the absence of the father who is a Keke driver. The police after handing over the boy invited the stepmother to report at the station with the boy’s father.
“Instead of reporting to the police they abandoned the boy in the compound and took to their heels. The boy has been with the landlord since then until today when he decided to return the boy to the police.
“Since the police have nowhere to keep the boy I have advised the IPO to take the boy to FIDA so that a Court order could be obtained to remove the boy from the abusive environment to the children home for his protection while the police would intensify efforts to get the parents arrested to face the law.”
However, when the police Public Relations Officer in the State, SP Odiko was contacted he confirmed that the boy was brought to one of the divisions by a good samaritan, adding that the DPO ensured that the boy survived by taking him to the hospital for treatment and paying the hospital bills.
On whether the man cut his son’s penis, the PPRO interrupted, “who said so? The boy, we were told did something wrong at home and the father beat him. Though we condemned the manner he was beaten.
“He was actually given some wounds and was bleeding, he ran away from home and fell along the bush path where he was picked up by the person that brought him to the station almost unconscious.”
Aggrieved Kogi APC members and stakeholders have described the Saturday Local Government ward congresses in Kogi State as an exercise marred with irregularities.
A spokesperson for the group Nda Aaron who disclosed this on his Facebook page on Saturday alleged that some of the aggrieved members in the party who bought forms to contest were removed.
Aaron, who is a former Special Adviser, (SA) and a Senior Special Assistant, (SSA), to Governor Yahaya Bello said the group would wait for the ward congress report across the 21 Local Government before knowing their next line of action.
The post reads in part “Big political crises set to hit the Kogi State chapter of APC as Kogi LGA’s Congresses was characterized by undemocratic manipulations, forceful removal and imposition, arm -twisting and denial of the people who bought forms to contest for APCLGA’s congress election.
“Another sad one was Lokoja LGA Woman Leader Hajiya Fatima Nda Jiya, a woman who worked for Governor Yahaya Bello against all odds in 29th August 2015 APC Governorship Primary Election, and also works for the Governor reelection; she was forcefully removed as Lokoja LGA APC Woman Leader against the consensus model of congress they adopted.
“This woman has been with President Buhari from ANPP and was CPC Lokoja LGA Woman Leader, still with Buhari and when APC was formed she was unanimously elected as LOKOJA LGA APC Woman leader because of her ability to mobilized & carry the women along.
“It’s upon this premises she was to be rewarded as Kogi Commissioner of Women Affairs nominee 2020 based on the slot that was given to Lokoja, but she was blocked by those who are afraid of her popularity and sophisticated political capacity and goodwill from among Lokoja women, still they ain’t satisfied as such, they seized this window of opportunity to push her out completely….to me this is no longer politics but vendetta.
“My Message to Governor Yahaya Bello; what do you think should be going through the mind of this woman, who stood for you in 2015, when those who forced her out today were in PDP …? Please find a place to compensate her because I know the executive position is a cash cow with plenty of milk.

In another historic moment in Kingdom’s women empowerment reforms and initiatives, the first batch of women soldiers from the Armed Forces Women’s Cadre Training Center graduated on Wednesday. The Chief of the General Staff Gen. Fayyad Al-Ruwaili graced the graduation ceremony after completion of the 14-week basic individual course that began on May 30.
Addressing the ceremony, Maj. Gen. Adel Al-Balawi, head of the Armed Forces Education and Training Authority, said that the center aims to provide excellent professional training services for female staff of the Ministry of Defense in the vocational areas that the ministry is in need.
“The center has an important mission, which is to provide distinguished training programs and curricula and an ideal educational environment in accordance with international quality standards that meet the needs of the armed forces of female cadres.
“This aims to achieve better performance that helps realize the ministry’s goals in the future,” he said.
Chief Sgt. Suleiman Al-Maliki, acting commander of the Armed Forces Women’s Cadre Training Center, also spoke on the occasion. Maj. Gen. Hamid Al-Omari, director of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces, and a number of senior officers of the Armed Forces, also attended the function.
Chief Sgt. Hadi Al-Anezi, assistant commander of the center, administered the oath to the graduates. This was followed by the announcement of the results and the names of those graduates who performed outstandingly and won prizes.
At the end of the ceremony, Gen. Al-Ruwaili commented in the registry of the center, in which he thanked the outstanding work of the male and female staff of the center in accomplishing the center’s great mission.
It is noteworthy that Saudi Arabia opened its Armed Forces sector to women with allowing both genders to sign up through launching a unified admission portal in February this year.
Military ranks from soldier to sergeant are available for women in the Saudi Arabia Army, Royal Saudi Air Defense, Royal Saudi Navy, Royal Saudi Strategic Missile Force and the Armed Forces Medical Services. Saudi women between the ages of 21 and 40 are allowed to apply for these posts.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, has said the federal government will soon make COVID-19 vaccination mandatory for civil servants.
Mustapha disclosed this during a meeting of the Health Commissioners Forum on Thursday in Abuja.
He explained that the government wants civil servants to be vaccinated, as they represent Nigeria abroad sometimes.
The SGF, who is also the chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 (PSC), further noted that some countries have banned unvaccinated persons is one of the reasons civil servants should embrace vaccination.
“You should, in the course of this meeting, deliberate on the challenges caused by vaccine hesitancy all over the country. It is expected that you will come with policy alternatives as solutions.
“Let me state, however, that the federal government shall, very shortly, unveil its decision on mandatory vaccination for every employee in its service.
“One of the reasons why we want to do that with the federal civil service is because they will be travelling on behalf of the nation.
“Assuming the American government said, ‘you can’t come into their country unless you’re vaccinated’, you have to be vaccinated.
“It’s a sequential thing and we are taking one step at a time, because we realise we don’t have sufficient vaccines in the country at the moment,” Mustapha said.
Popular Nollywood actor, Zubby Michael has slammed Annie Idibia for calling out her husband, Tuface on social media.
Recall that Annie took to Instagram on Thursday night accusing Tuface of spending the night with his ex-lover, Pero. Annie went ahead to say that the legend’s family do not like her and try to do everything to disgrace her publicly.

A Nigerian woman identified as Chioma Ndukwe Bon-kafor, who gave birth to twins after a decade and half of being married has newly welcomed a set of triplets. The Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) has reacted after his 2023 presidential campaign posters surfaced.
However, the governor has disassociated himself from the posters.
The posters, which have gone viral on social media, contained pictures of Akeredolu and the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, with the logo of the All Progressives Congress.
In one of them, there was an inscription titled, ‘Save Redeem Nigeria 2023.’ The poster also indicated that a group, New Reform Nigeria Group was the sponsor. However, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Richard Olatunde, in a statement, said Akeredolu had nothing to do with the “pseudo campaigners.”
Angel and Boma had a war of words this evening and called themselves unprintable names after the latter accused the former of being a ‘Kiss and tell”. The argument started after Pere queried Angel for kissing Boma which she denied because of the agreement they had not to tell anyone. However, Angel walked in on the actor, Boma, talking about how the 21-year-old writer is a ‘kiss and tell’ despite the secrecy they agreed on.
The argument escalated quickly between the duo that led to calling names and raining insults on one another.
