Men of the Abia State Police Command have arrested one Mrs. Zazi David for allegedly dousing her 10-year-old househelp with hot water mixed with ground pepper because she broke a plate.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Geoffrey Ogbonna, Mrs. Zazi also allegedly forced the girl, identified as Ifunanya, to drink the mixture.

It was gathered that the suspect was arrested after a patent medicine dealer she took Ifunanya to, raised alarm over her condition.
The suspect had also on several occasions meted inhuman treatments on the maid said to be an orphan, resulting in visible marks of assault on her body.

A chieftain of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, Barr. Olusegun Bamgbose, has said that former President Goodluck Jonathan will defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC, soon.

According to him, the ruling party is leaving no stone unturned towards ensuring that it clings to power at all cost.

Bamgbose pointed out that the APC does not care about the poor performance of the current administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The senior lawyer, in a chat, recalled that Senator Stella Oduah joined the party most recently, adding that Oduah’s movement was in preparation for Jonathan to equally decamp.

“The carrot they are dangling at him Is the possibility of handing over the APC presidential ticket to him. Jonathan has agreed in principle to cross over to APC before January 2022, he said quoting an insider in the former President’s camp.

“He has been brainwashed by some APC stalwarts that he is the most qualified Southerner to take over from Buhari, having honorably accepted defeat in 2015.

“They have been able to convince him that it’s time for payback for what he did in 2015,” he said.

“This is why Jonathan has not been showing any interest in the internal squabbles in his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

“Other things being equal, Jonathan will cross over to APC with a Governor, Senator to convince the APC that he is still politically relevant.

“APC has plans to unsettle PDP in order to politically neutralize them against 2023. It’s most likely that the PDP will break into factions soon.

“This is just the master plan.APC has concluded to zone the Presidency to South and will also ensure that PDP joins suit. They will go to any length to ensure that Atiku Abubakar is denied a ticket by PDP.

“The fear is that ethnic sentiments may not be ruled out if Atiku contests against a Southern candidate. Nigerians should however reject APC and PDP just like Jega once opined. Nigerians should look forward to a fresh hand come 2023.”

A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, has granted an ex parte order restraining the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, and the Edo State Government from mandating all the residents of the state to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The governor had announced that the state government will from September 1st begin restriction of residents who do not show their COVID-19 vaccination certificate from public places, including banks, worship centres and others.

The decision of the governor comes as the cases of coronavirus in the state continue to rise.

But counsel to the plaintiff, Echezona Etiaba (SAN), in his argument on the motions filed by Charles Osaretin against the Governor of Edo State and five others urged the court to direct parties to maintain status quo pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

Etiaba also asked the court to grant the leave to serve the respondents through substituted means by publishing the court processes on a national daily circulating in Nigeria.

The presiding judge, Justice Adamu Turaki Mohammed, in his ruling, granted the ex parte orders and adjourned till the 10th of September, 2021, for hearing of the substantive motion.

It was gathered that Senator Ademola Adeleke has arrived Nigeria after a two-year academic sojourn to the United States of America where he went to pursue a Diploma in Criminal Justice at the Atlanta Metropolitan State College, Georgia.

Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has approved the suspension of all Cattle Markets across the 25 local government areas with effect from Wednesday, 1st September, 2021.

Matane explained that the government has suspended the operation of trucks carrying firewood/timber across the state.

The statement stated, “all motorcycles are only allowed to operate from 6:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m across the state.

The government spokesman explained that the decisions were adopted in the interest of citizens of the state as part of measures to tackle security challenges in the state.

“Government is aware of the inconveniences the measures would cause the people, but the decision was taken in the overall interest of the state,” the SSG further added.

An Islamic cleric, Sheikh Nuru Khalid, has criticized President Muhammadu Buhari over the activities of bandits.

Khalid, who is the Chief Imam of Apo Legislative Quarters Mosque, said God will punish Buhari if he fails to return Nigeria to the state he met it.

The cleric noted that Nigeria had no challenge of banditry before Buhari assumed power.

Addressing Islamic worshippers during his sermon, the Imam vowed that Allah would punish Buhari if he fails to tackle bandits.

In a viral video, the Imam said, “Go and tell the President that under his government, some group of people are issuing threats to local communities, demanding that they should be paid some amounts of money or face attack.

“And they would gather the money and announce publicly on the BBC that they (bandits) would be paid this Friday [to avoid attack].

“Tell the president that there is a country we pay allegiance to, and there is a part of the country we do not know, which is governed by bandits.

“The president should either return the country as one nation where bandits are not killing people anyhow — just the way he took over, or Allah (God) will deal with him.”
