Elon Musk’s SpaceX has shortlisted a Nigerian creative artist, Yemi Akinyemi-Dele for a scheduled trip to the moon.
He is among the first 20 shortlisted applicants for the trip.
NAN reports that the Japanese billionaire, Yusaku Maezawa, had announced on March 2 that he would choose eight members of the public to join him on the trip.
Maezawa’s mission, tagged “Dear Moon,” is scheduled to fly on SpaceX’s Starship rocket in 2023. The dear moon project is a mission organised by Elon Musk’s SpaceX and funded by the billionaire and founder of E-Shop in Zozo town with a passionate love for creative artists.
The space mission project, which was open for creative art participants, attracted over one million applications across 249 countries around the world out of which only 20 were shortlisted and Yemi made the list to the final.
The 20 shortlisted names would further be scrutinised with only eight selected for the mission to the moon.
With this development, Akinyemi-Dele, whose father hails from Lagos State and his mother from the Czech Republic, would need the support and prayers of all Nigerians for him to be among the eight that would be selected for the Starship rocket mission with Maezawa in 2023.
The SpaceX Moon Project is the first in the series and it is expected that if Akinyemi-Dele is selected, he will create history by representing Nigeria and Czech Republic at the mission project.

An angry, mobile phone dealer has rejected an iPhone-obsessed lady’s offer to make part payment for the gadget and defray the rest of the cost with ten rounds of sex. In a leaked WhatsApp conversation with the phone seller, she revealed that she got his contact details from a friend of hers. According to the Nigerian lady, she had only N150k to buy the phone but was prepared to give the vendor good sex up to 10 times in addition to the money.
Hilariously, when the man expressed surprise at the offer, she thought he was interested, so she went ahead to increase the number of times to 15 if he would add “Airpods” to the iPhone.

Young lady takes to her knees to apologize for her misdeeds after insulting a social media user who laid curses on her that came to pass. According to an anonymous writer who took to the microblogging platform, Twitter to seek forgiveness over a misunderstanding with a follower whom she insulted.

Three suspected bandits who claimed to have repented have been arrested by the Katsina Police Command after an attempted robbery attack.
The suspects were said to have been offered employment by the Katsina State Government and were working in collaboration with the office of the Special Adviser to the state government on security in order to help strengthen the fight against banditry in the State.
However, instead of doing their job as expected, they were rather using it to rob and defraud people.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Katsina State paraded the suspects before journalist at the Police Command on Wednesday. The command revealed that unknown to the government, the suspected bandits while pretending to have repented were still engaging in robbery and cattle rustling until they were exposed in a foiled attack by the police.
According to SP Gambo, the arrested suspects who were on the government payroll enjoy the sum of N110,000 monthly as salary by the state government.
The hoodlums who confessed to have committed the crime were identified as Abdullahi Mai-Rafi 43, of Kofar Marusa Lowcost, Katsina, Abbas Haruna alias Dogo-Abbas 34, of Filin Polo Quarters, Katsina, and Usman Hassan, (aka Manu) 50, of Ganuwa village, Charanchi LGA of Katsina State.
“The trio went to Danmarke forest, Ingawa LGA, with a motor vehicle – Toyota Camry, ash in colour, with registration number DE 631 LED, attacked a herder, one Alhaji Gide Suleiman of Malumafashi LGA while grazing his animals, with machetes and sticks, threatened him and his boys that they were from the office of the Special Adviser on Security to His Excellency, with a false allegation that their brother, Ine Sa’idu had robbed one Lawal of his herds and that they should either produce the said Saidu or bring hundred (100) cows. After some scuffles, the suspects succeeded in robbing the said Alhaji Gide Suleiman of his twenty (20) cows valued at seven million, five hundred and fifty thousand naira (N7,550,000:00K) with the intention of taking them to the said Lawal as compensation for his stolen cows as falsely alleged by them. They also searched and robbed them of the sum of forty thousand (N40,000:00) Naira and four (4) GSM handsets.
“Subsequently, the same syndicate of Abdullahi Mai-Rafi and three (3) others, attacked the complainant on the same false allegation and attempted to rob him of another set of twenty cows and some sheep, but nemesis caught up with them when they were rounded up and arrested by the command.
“In the course of investigation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the offences.The Gang leader, Abdullahi Mai-Rafi confessed to have conspired with the others and sold all the cows at Dankama market, Kaita LGA of the state. Two cows and the sum of four hundred and forty-four thousand Naira were recovered as exhibits from them.
“It may interest you to know that Abdullahi Mai-Rafi was a notorious bandit but repented and was working with the state government under the office of S. A. Security,” SP Gambo disclosed
Bode Durojaiye, the Director of Media and Publicity to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111 has confirmed that the monarch was prevented from entering the Salami stadium, Adamasingba Ibadan on Wednesday.
It was learnt that Alaafin and other monarchs in the state were invited to grace the commissioning of the remodeled stadium on Wednesday.
Our correspondent, however, gathered that the Alaafin was prevented from entering the stadium despite that he was duly invited by the Oyo State Government to witness the commissioning.
It was learnt that the monarch immediately left the venue.
Alaafin’s spokesman, Bode Durojaiye while confirming the development in a short message claimed that he had been briefed that security agents truly prevented the monarch from gaining entry into the venue.
He described the security agents as overzealous.
He said, “My brother I’m so sorry.
“Overzealous security agents prevented the Alaafin.
“I did not go but I have just been briefed.”
It was earlier reported that the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji was also prevented from gaining entry to the stadium.
Adetunji left the stadium in anger.
Assistant Director, Media and Publicity to the Olubadan, Yanju Adegboyega confirmed the development.
Adegboyega insisted that the operatives of Department of State Service (DSS) and bouncers prevented the monarch from gaining access to the stadium.
“There is nothing that happened there. We were prevented from entering the stadium.
“The DSS and bouncers did not allow us to enter. Quote me, I am the Assistant Director of Media”.
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), the Department of State Services (DSS) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted Captagon pills at the Apapa port in Lagos.
Comptroller Malanta Yusuf, Apapa Command Area Controller announced the discovery on Wednesday in a statement.
Captagon, popularly known as Fenethylline, is a codrug of amphetamine and theophylline and popular with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
Nicknamed ‘the jihad drug’, it keeps users awake for long, dulls pain and creates a sense of euphoria.
The pills found by the government agencies in Nigeria’s commercial hub were concealed inside an imported machine.
Yusuf disclosed that one suspect in connection with the seizure was arrested. Further dismantling of cylinders in the machine is ongoing.
The officer said more details will be made public at the end of the examination and counting process.
He confirmed Captagon has been identified as one of the notorious stimulants used by ISIS insurgents and other fighters involved in the Middle East unrest.

The 36-year-old former Real Madrid and Juventus forward scored two late headers to break and extend the record.
The previous record holder, Ali Daei, scored 109 goals for Iran between 1993 and 2006 but Ronaldo equalled it in the Euro 2020 with a double against France. Teenage Barcelona prodigy, Ansu Fati has inherited Lionel Messi‘s number 10 shirt after the Argentine talisman left for French side PSG. Gulder Ultimate Search (GUS), the survival reality show that dominated the Nigerian airwaves in the early 2000s, is making its triumphant return after seven years off the air. Created and sponsored by Nigerian Breweries Plc, manufacturers of Gulder lager beer, GUS started in 2004 and enjoyed 11 seasons on the air. The show went on to become the most-watched reality TV series in Nigeria before it ended in 2016.
Nigerian Breweries (NB) Plc. has officially announced that the show would make its comeback with “The Age of Craftsmanship” as the theme for the 2021 edition.

The TV premiere of ‘Gulder Ultimate Search: The Age of Craftsmanship’ is set for October 16, 2021, and will run till December 19, when the grand finale will hold.
From the first edition, which premiered in 2004, contestants were camped in different parts of the country to struggle against themselves and the wild, i.e. nature, and their search for a hidden treasure that brings to the last person standing instant fame and fortune.

According to The PUNCH, the Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested one Mr Ahmed Muktar and two others for alleged abduction and rape of a 19-year-old girl.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, Jerry Victor, made the disclosure while parading the suspects on Tuesday in Lafia, the state capital.
He explained that officers of the command, after painstaking efforts, arrested three of the suspects involved in the crime, while the fourth suspect was at large.
Victor said, “Today, we are parading three suspects in connection with a case of abduction, molestation and rape. A complainant came to our office concerning the case, which has to do with his daughter. The incident, which concerns a driver, Ahmed Muktar, and his cronies, happened around Nyanya-Mararaba in the Karu Local Government Area.
“One of the suspects is still on the run, but we are doing our best to get him arrested, after which all the suspects will be charged to court.”
The victim said she was going to see a friend when she met Murkar, who was in a vehicle.
She said, “Muktar stopped me and convinced me that he would drop me off at my friend’s place. I entered his Sharon vehicle, then after a few minutes, I slept off only to find myself in an unknown location.
“He took me to a place where I stayed for 21 days. He and some other guys had sex with me severally before he returned me to Lafia.”
Her father thanked the NSCDC for arresting the suspects and vowed to ensure the men faced the wrath of the law for the damage they did to his daughter.
Muktar, however, claimed that the teenager was his girlfriend and denied abducting her.
He said, “As a driver, I only helped her by giving her a lift. I admit to sleeping with her, but it was only once. She is my girlfriend and I did not abduct her.”
No fewer than nine persons were in the late hours of Tuesday night allegedly killed and scores injured by unknown gunmen that attacked Bagana community in Omala local Government Area of kogi State.
A local who survived by whiskers revealed that the gunmen invaded a provision shop located in the heart of the village and opened fire, killing four persons on the spot.
He added that the attackers then went on shooting spree during which many people who were running to escape were hit by stray bullets.
He disclosed that he counted five dead bodies from his hiding, which included one Alias Barrister, a diesel oil dealer and a dispensary staff of the Local Government Health Center at Ogba, residing in Bagana.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, DSP William Aya, said one Usman Salifu called the DPO on phone around 9.30pm on Tuesday that his shop has been attacked by gunmen leading to the death of his sales boy, Bashir Sule and three other customers, while scores sustained various degrees of injury.
He added that on receipt of the distress call, the DPO mobilised his men to the scene and evacuated some of the injured to the hospital for treatment, adding that the force had commenced manhunt to bring the perpetrators to book.
He said peace had returned to the village and assured the people to return home to continue with their legitimate businesses.
Another villager while recounting his ordeal to our correspondent said they were woken up from their sleep by the gunshots and they scampered into the bush for safety.
He lamented the incessant killings of innocent citizens and wanton burning of their houses by the marauders since 2014 and called on the Federal Government and the Kogi State government and security agencies to come to their aid.
He added that the village had lost over 300 of her citizens and had lost property worth billions of naira to the unending attacks by the militia allegedly invited from Benue and Nasarawa states.
He said the crisis which started between the Agatu militias and Fulani herders from Benue state had turned the town to a ghost, as the efforts by the state government to curtail the carnage proved abortive.
According to him, about five months ago, the same shop which belonged to Musa Salifu one of the sons of an embattled Onu Otutubatu Alhaji Salifu Anyebe was attacked in which he sustained gunshots wounds.
The locals noted that since December 2014 , the village was on two occasions violently attacked resulting to the death of scores and burning down of houses.
They said the incessant killings by the militias forced the people to evacuate their families and property from their ancestral homes to become internally displaced persons, IDPs, in neighbouring villages and to some states, lamenting that no sooner that lives have started returning to the community, than the orgy of killings resumed again.
According to the locals, a prominent Hausa Chief, Alhaji Audi Abdullahi and Chief of Ihankpe were at different times violently abducted and killed by yet to be apprehended bandits.
They explained that some of their children, seven of them, residing outside the state, who innocently came home for sallah celebrations were gruesomely murdered by these vagabonds, even as the video of their torture to death had gone viral.
They alleged that the trouble may not have been unconnected with the supremacy battle of who to control resources of the town by the four major tribes, Igala, Hausa, Otutubatu and Ihankpe.
“Bagana, although, a multi-ethnic group, used to be a haven of peace, until the chiefs of Otutubatu and Ihankpe moved their headquarters from Omagede and Patanyi. These villages are more than ten kilometres from Bagana, the Headquarters of Bagana District of Omala local Government Area.
“The two clans have been on each other’s jugular in an attempt to control economic lives of the village, using mercenaries to unleash terror on the village.
“In attempt to control the carnage, the immediate past governor, Captain Idris Wada had severally summoned the chiefs to Lokoja, and warned them to maintain peace, but the warning fell on deaf ears.
“The Governor had stationed detachment of soldiers and mobile policemen to maintain peace, but they too became the casualty as the soldiers lost two of their men and four policemen to the Ak- 47 wielding militiamen,” the source said.
A community leader Alhaji Ismaila Umar while speaking to our correspondent on phone urged Governor Yahaya Bello to establish Naval post and a police post in the village, saying the location of the village on the Bank of River Benue has made it vulnerable to all kind of criminals.
He lamented that the chiefs who were not indigenes of Bagana and whose forefathers had never been chiefs in the town would from nowhere seize the town.
However, the District Head and Oga Onu Ife, a third class Chief, Alih Haruna, whom our correspondent gathered had literally abandoned his palace to another village for safety, could not be reached for comment.
Meanwhile, the paramount ruler of Omala local Government Area, Onuh Ife (Joogba) HRH Boniface Musa has condemned the killings and urged the chairman of the council Hon. Ibrahim Aboh and Governor Yahaya Bello to enforce the earlier directive to the unauthorised chiefs in Bagana to relocate to their domains.
The paramount ruler explained that as part of peace effort, the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs had summoned all the chiefs from the LGA to Lokoja, the capital and gave a stern directive to the chiefs of Otutubatu Alhaji Salifu Anyebe and Ihankpe’s representative to relocate to their domains of Omagede and Patanyi respectively.
He wondered why Onu Otutubatu Alhaji Salifu Anyebe has remained adamant as all peaceful negotiations with him to relocate to his domain have violently been ignored.
He said unless the governor invoked his powers in ensuring that the Onuh Otutubatu is forced to respect his directive of relocation, peace would continue to be ellusive and carnage will continue in the area.
Bagana, a riverine community with a population of about ten thousand inhabitants had played host to John Holt conglomerate during the colonial era. It has a thriving commodity market where trade by barter model of exchange is still practiced.
The former president Olusegun Obasanjo in May 2007, two weeks to the expiration of his tenure signed agreement with Global Tolls, the first in bridge construction in Nigeria to construct a bridge from Bagana to Guto across the River Benue leading to the FCT through Public Private Partnership, PPP. The bridge which had reached advanced stage has since been abandoned.
Popular Nigerian rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, has suggested that the Federal Government is fueling the security challenge in the country.
Adeyanju suggested that the Federal government is supporting bandits, killer herders, and Boko Haram in their clandestine activities.
The rights activist explained that these criminals were not more powerful than the Nigerian security agencies but support from government has kept them afloat. In a tweet, Adeyanju wrote:

Bandits have been abducting and killing people in the Northern part of the country.
States like Zamfara, Kaduna, Niger, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Katsina states have been the most affected by bandits.
Recently gunmen believed to be bandits had attacked the Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, and killed some officers while abducting two Majors.
While bandits are ravaging the North, killer herders have been attacking farmers and sacking communities in other parts of the country.
BBNaija ‘shine ya eyes’ housemate, WhiteMoney has revealed that he’s willing to be compensate Liquorose and Boma whom he considers as strong competitors for the grand prize. In his diary session, WhiteMoney disclosed that if he has the power of eviction, he will evict Boma and Liquorose because they are both serious threats to him. “If I win, I will compensate the both of them”, WhiteMoney said.
