It is something new for your country, but one must be careful. The spending habits with mortgages, credit, and buying things not needed can become a nightmare. One of the males you speak of in this article has three cell phones. That is money being thrown out the window. If not careful you will be just like the US and Europe. Back to the haves (rich) and havenots (poor).
My sister, it`s not really new per se, though your advice on cutting excess spending is on the right track. But going back to the state of Europe & America would not be the case since we`v been in a worse mess of unimaginable two in one world of incomparable wide margined "haves" & "havenots" as a result of so many reasons including the totally extinguished middle class.
I think Nigeria `ll not be looking at the US but rather countries like Germany & Russia which could be said to be almost classless societies when compared with other European countries like the UK, Spain, or Greece.
The middle class is the most active and engaged group in every society and the success & failure of any society greatly depends on it.
Nigerian political, judicial & socio-economical life has been what it was, because of non-existence of the middle class over the decades and this is being corrected. Off course not by any magic but gradually.
