101  Forum / Religion / Oyakhilome's Kid Brother, Rev Ken Accused Of Impregnating a South African Lady on: 31-08-2014 10:00 PM
Quote

The crisis rocking the Christ Embassy Church is about to get messier as The Nigerian Times claims that Rev. Ken Oyakhilome, younger brother of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, founder of the Church has also been accused of fornication and adultery.

Last week, reports emerged in the media that Rev. Anita, wife of the charismatic and ‘pastorpreneuer,’ popularly known as Pastor Chris, had filed for divorce in the UK, citing ‘adultery’ and ‘unreasonable behaviour.’ As the news made the round, it was met with disbelief by members of the Christ Embassy Church who revere Pastor Chris and were in the dark on the marital crises facing the couple.

Now the scandal may even get worse. Pastor Chris’ younger brother, known in the Church circle as Rev. Ken, was alleged to have impregnated a South African lady, name withheld, a member of the Church in Randburg, Guateng, which is the headquarters of Christ Embassy, South Africa. Rev. Ken, used to be the regional pastor of Christ Embassy in charge of South Africa until a few years when he was transferred to the branch of the church in Texas, USA.
The Nigerian Times’s sources say the romance between Rev. Ken and the member was an open secret among members of the Church in South Africa and the alleged pregnancy of the lady was said to have ruffled feathers among the top echelons of church but was hushed in order to prevent a scandal. The lady, according to sources, aborted the child with the knowledge of leaders of the church.

Like his elder brother, Rev. Ken has lived apart from his wife Pastor Ose for over ten years now. Pastor Ose used to manage the Okota, Lagos branch of the Church while her husband, Ken was the regional pastor in South Africa. The couple still lives apart today as Pastor Ose now manages the Church in South Africa while her husband, Ken is in Texas, running the church there.

Although the alleged romance between Rev Ken and the said Sister, which resulted in pregnancy, was kept a secret, the crisis in the Church involving Pastor Chris and his wife Anita, had led to many of such secrets tumbling out. Some members of the Church unhappy with happenings there had set up Facebook page, Where is Rev Anita, through which they vent their frustrations about the secrecy with which the church is run and some of the allegedly ungodly things happening there.

Find below some comments about the Rev Ken saga:
From Sister Lebogang Radibela: “It’s true, here in Johannesburg a pastor impregnated a young lady and forced her to do abortion, later on the lady was promoted to being a pastor, till today she is still a pastor, working together with the wife to the pastor who impregnated her. Members act like this is normal; I mean where we draw a line.”

From Jacob Nnoli: @Sister Lebogang Radibela, “it’s not just a pastor. it’s our darling older brother Rev Ken himself that activated the pregnancy button but it’s shocking to know that our regional pastor, Pastor Ose Oyakhilome, a mother herself supported the abortion and by (following the principle of the ) 48 laws of power, she’s keeping her close. That sounds like what an ‘area mother’ would do and to top it up, the grandfather himself Rev Chris ordained the sister a pastor and probably help seared the damaged conscience with some rands/dollars. How many more in Nigeria region? Time will fail us to speak of Asaba, Kaduna, Port Harcourt, Benin and many too numerous to mention. I had to listen to that Youtube message again this morning and I can now understand when Pastor Chris said Pastor Anita should have moved with those who will help her as the wife of global pastor. Is this what she should learn, to help Pastor Yemisi and other indicted ladies? Actually Pastor, you forgot to announce the firing of Pastor Pat, the CSO as a result of leaked White House (Pastor Chris’ residence in Lagos) information and the hiring of a brother-in-law Deacon Kingsley Osazuwa. Our darling Rev Ken, it looks like Durex, Trojan, and Gold circle condoms etc have all finished in the market because of ….May God have mercy but we need to obtain the mercy.”

Meanwhile, the London branch of the Christ Embassy Church is undergoing a major crisis which had led the Charity Commission, the body licensed to regulate charities in the UK, to take over its financial administration through the appointment of an Interim Manager. The body accused the Church Trustees of “serious concerns about the financial management of the Church, including in particular large connected payments. Since then a books and records inspection has been carried out and the regulator has obtained information from and met the trustees, however, the regulator’s concerns about the financial management of the charity have not been resolved.”

The Commission therefore used its powers under the UK Charities Act to appoint Mr. Rod Weston of Mazars as Interim Manager of the charity to the exclusion of the charity’s trustees as a temporary and protective measure. The implication is that Mr Weston is now in charge of the financial management of the Christ Embassy, UK and will deal with all matters relating to finances, to the exclusion of the pastors and staff of the Church.

A similar thing had occurred to another Nigerian-owned church, the Kingsway International Christian Centre, KICC pastored by Mathew Ashimolowo, which necessitated his relocation to Nigeria from the UK. Also the UK government barred Nigerian Pastor, David Oyedepo from entering the country, allegedly because of some unwholesome practices of its church.
102  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / U.S. Colleges To Screen West African Students For Ebola on: 31-08-2014 05:23 PM

With the World Health Organization projecting numbers for those contracting Ebola to rise to the tens of thousands, U.S. colleges are considering screening students from West Africa for the virus.

The outbreak, which has resulted in more than 1,500 deaths in Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leon, is said to be largest in history. There is no cure for the Ebola virus.

“I can see why there would be concern; there’s no vaccine for it,” said Fatima Nor, an 18-year-old freshman at the University at Buffalo, where about 25 students from Nigeria are enrolled for fall. But she said knowing that the virus is transmitted strictly through direct contact with bodily fluids of sick people, and not by sitting next to someone in class, should be enough to calm nerves.

“As long as everyone keeps their personal space, it should be OK,” said Nor, of Buffalo.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have not issued specific recommendations to curb the spread of the almost always deadly virus, but colleges have taken matters into their own hands, drafting precautionary plans to protect their students.

The American College Health Association recommends its members update emergency plans, find out where patients have traveled and use isolation exam rooms when available. Several colleges are checking the temperatures of students arriving from affected countries and continuing to monitor for fever until any risk of contagion has passed.

“I don’t see this as a huge threat on college campuses,” said Dr. Susan Even, student health director at the University of Missouri-Columbia and a member of the ACHA, “but it makes sense when you’re communicating with students … to ask a question or two.”

At the University of Illinois, 30 Nigerian students will be subject for screening, which includes a temperature check and private Ebola discussions, said Dr. Robert Palinkas, the center’s director.

Similar screenings are also planned at the University at Buffalo, Mercer University in Georgia, Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, and the University of Akron in Ohio. According to ABC, U.S. universities count an active 9,728 students from Nigeria, 204 from Liberia, 169 from Sierra Leone, and 95 students from Guinea.

A grandfather has caused outrage after making his 10-month-old granddaughter take part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

Claude Dalcour, from Houston, called out his father-in-law Reggie Stiller for forcing his daughter to take part in the viral trend, after spotting the video online.

Mr Dalcour, who is in the process of divorcing his wife, the mother of the baby Aria, said seeing his daughter subjected to this nearly brought him to tears.

He told Fox 26 News: ‘I was shocked, appalled.

‘It’s abuse because my daughter is an infant. She doesn’t know what’s going on.’

Local police confirmed they are conducting a welfare check on the child in the video to see if she is in any danger or if she was harmed in the making of the video.

The video was posted to Facebook and quickly removed, however it has received a torrent of anger, with one outraged viewer LaTanya Haynes posting: ‘I don’t like my grandchildren to even cry!…..Shame on you B******!’

108  Forum / Sports / UNFORTUNATE: Germany Outlasts Nigeria To Win U-20 Women's World Cup 1- 0 on: 25-08-2014 05:22 AM
Lena Petermann scored in the eighth minute of extra time to lead Germany to a 1-0 victory over Nigeria to claim the under-20 Women's World Cup at Montreal's Olympic Stadium on Sunday. The game finished tied 0-0 after 90 minutes.

The victory is Germany's third at this competition, after winning the event in 2004 and 2010.

The Nigerians looked to have won the match in the 85th minute of regular time when midfielder Asisat Oshoala headed the ball across the line, but the play was called dead for offside.

Nigeria was the better team for much of the game, as the Falconets pinned the Germans in their own half for lengthy periods of time. Nigeria's shots were dangerous, and its crosses constantly threatened the German defence.

But it was Petermann who broke the deadlock in extra time, firing home from close range past goalkeeper Sandra Chiichii for her third goal of the competition.

Forward Pauline Bremer of Germany got the play going, stripping Nigeria's Gladys Abasi of the ball on the edge of the 18-yard-box. Bremer walked in to the penalty area and squared the ball to Petermann, who scored Germany's 17th goal of the tournament.

The loss was Nigeria's second in the final of the U-20 tournament, after losing 2-0 to Germany in 2010.

Nigeria came closest to opening the score in the first half. Oshoala had a glorious chance in the 22nd minute when she stole the ball from German defender Margarita Gidion, walked in on a breakaway, and sidestepped goalie Meike Kaemper before finding the side netting.

The tournament's leading scorer Oshoala, by far the game's best player, was denied another promising opportunity in the 38th when her teammate Loveth Ayila walked into her shot, deflecting it wide.

The game was 0-0 at halftime, with Nigeria directing nine shots towards target to Germany's four.

But Germany began pulling away as the game wore on. Its best chance in regular time came late when Petermann walked in on the Nigerian net on a partial break in the 78th, but her shot was scooped up by Chiichii.

The Germans finished with 13 shots on target. Nigeria had six.

Germany and Nigeria are familiar foes at the U-20 event.

In 2004, when the tournament was an U-19 format, Germany defeated Nigeria on penalties in the quarter-finals en route to its first championship.

In 2010, Germany's Alexandra Popp scored early in the final to defeat Nigeria's Falconets 2-0 in front of 24,633 in Bielefeld, Germany. Current Germany coach Karen Meinart was in charge of that team, as well.

At a press conference in Montreal on Saturday, Peter Montopoli of the Canadian Soccer Association said he was disappointed by the turnout in Montreal during the U-20 tournament, where an average of 9,000 soccer fans attended games at the Olympic Stadium.

On Sunday, there were 15,822 in attendance at the Big O.

Earlier in the day, France beat North Korea 3-2 in the third-place match. France's centre half Aissatou Tounkara scored the winner in the 79th minute to lead the Bleuettes to their first podium finish at the U-20 Women's World Cup.
109  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Over 100 Trainee Policemen Missing As Boko Haram Attacks Mobile Police Academy on: 23-08-2014 08:12 AM
The  police yesterday launched a search for more than 100 mobile police trainees who are missing as a result of the attack on Thursday by Boko Haram  on the Nigeria Mobile Police Academy in Gwoza.

There were indications that some of the fleeing  trainees were sighted in Yola and Mubi in Adamawa State.

The lucky ones were said to have made calls to their colleagues on their safety.
The whereabouts of most  of the trainees could not be accounted for as at press time.

There was anxiety that some of the mobile police trainees might have been captured by the sect.

But a reliable source in the police, however, confirmed that a roll-call of those on training was being conducted last night to ascertain the actual number and list of those in the academy.

The situation appeared tense yesterday following the blockade of all routes leading to Gwoza by Boko Haram insurgents.

The police could not gain access to Gwoza to reclaim the academy where the insurgents have hoisted their flags.
According to a reliable source who is central to the management of how to retake the academy, none of the trainees could be located.

The source said: “Preliminary findings showed that the insurgents invaded the school in the morning when most of the mobile police trainees were in their training shorts and vests.

“We are talking of more than 100 trainees missing. If the academy is at its full capacity, it can take up to 1,000 policemen either trainees or those for in-service training. None of the police trainees has officially got in touch.

“They overran the academy, burnt some parts of it and hoisted their flags. All those in the school fled and we cannot account for their whereabouts.

“Yesterday some of the trainees were said to have been sighted in Yola and Mubi where they got in touch with their superiors and relations. We are suspecting that some of these trainees might have also managed to escape to their squadrons.”

Responding to a question, the highly-placed source said: “We cannot rule out if any of the trainees had been captured or not by the insurgents because it was a sudden invasion and the topography is hilly.

“As I am talking to you, neither the military nor the police could gain access to Gwoza, either to reclaim the town or the academy.

“Boko Haram insurgents have taken over the entire Gwoza and mounted blockade to deny  the police and other security agencies access to the place. The insurgents are in charge of the place now.”

The source said the police management has ordered a roll-call of those nominated for training in the Academy to “at least get a list of the trainees.”
“We have started  the search for them from the roll-call. We  will now get in touch with their  superior officers, colleagues, relations or next-of–kin  if they have heard from them.”
110  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / "Tell Us if our Daughters are Dead'' - Chibok Parents to Nigerian Government on: 23-08-2014 08:05 AM
Parents of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped have urged the Nigerian government to confirm if their daughters are already dead, and hand over their bodies for burial.

The solemn call came Friday, more than four months after armed insurgents stormed Government Secondary School in Chibok, loaded more than 200 girls on to trucks, and drove them away in the dead of the night. According to the heartbroken parents, they would rather welcome such news and prepare for the funeral than wait endlessly for update on the fate of their children abducted by Boko Haram April 14.

On Friday, marking 130 day of the girls’ abduction, over 50 protesters marched from the Unity Fountain to the National Secretariat demanding that the girls be returned alive. The demonstrators distributed flyers and stickers. They chanted:
“What are we demanding for? Bring our girls back and alive” as they marched.

One of the leaders of the march, Hadiza Bala-Usman, told PREMIUM TIMES:
“The parents said they would rather know that theirs daughters are dead and their bodies brought back and buried so as to put an end to this endless wondering about the status of their children. They are calling on the Federal Government to help them search for the bodies of their children; that’s if they are dead. It’s better for them to know that their kids are dead and the bodies are brought back.”

An official of the Centre for Democracy and Development, Jibrin Ibrahim, who was also at the protest ground, told PREMIUM TIMES that the march was to remind the Federal Government of its responsibilities. Mr. Ibrahim said:
“Today is 130 days since the abduction of the girls. Since they were abducted, our government promised us swift action, to search and rescue them; that, has not happened. We are therefore out on the street to remind the government that they have a responsibility to rescue these girls and return them to their parents and homes.”

112  Forum / The Buzz Central / ‘Acting Is Now The Gateway To Prostitution’- Filmmaker, Blessing Egbe on: 18-08-2014 08:41 AM
"Two Brides And A Baby" movie producer Blessing Effiom Egbe is at it again and this time, the actress seems tired with the alleged high level of immorality and promiscuous activities  in Nollywood.

Blessing, who is known for usually airing her opinion on serious situations in the movie industry, took to her Twitter handle Friday morning to share her deepest thoughts on what we describe as the "ills of Nollywood".

She exploded:
"Acting is now the gateway to prostitution. People will do anything to have their faces on the screen because market go come and true true, market plenty."

The "Lekki Wives" producer may not be the only one who shares this view on the current situation in the Nigerian movie industry. Other stars like Charles Novia have also cried for help on why young girls and boys have to sell their bodies for movie roles as well as called out movie makers who ask for sex before creating the cast.

Another close source claims that in the East, upcoming actresses and actors are being forced to pay movie producers to get movie roles. Plus, they also have to take care of hotel bills, food and costumes during the entire shoot with no wages by the end of it, even if the film hits big at box office.

The source adds that the reason being that, when they spend to get roles in one, two or more movies, the females (most especially) end up being noticed by some big guns in the socio-political sectors who allegedly want them in bed for the bigger bucks. Thus, why not spend N200K to get in a film and then make millions by having a secret affair with a politician?

This could be the darkest side to Nollywood but is there any remedy to the situation?
113  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Naija Woman Showing ‘Signs Consistent With Ebola Infection’ Dies On Flight on: 18-08-2014 08:11 AM
The Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD) has confirmed the death of a 35-year-old Nigerian woman at Abu Dhabi International Airport. The women, who was suffering from advanced metastatic cancer was travelling from Nigeria to India for treatment, when her condition deteriorated at a transit stop in Abu Dhabi. Despite immediate medical assistance, she could not be saved, said the Authority in a statement.

The traveller had shown signs that may be consistent with the Ebola virus infection; however Haad stated that her existing medical condition provided an adequate medical explanation for her death: "Full safety and precautionary measures have been taken by the medical staff who attended the patient according to the World Health Organisation standards for dealing with suspected cases of infectious diseases. In addition, all contacts of the patient (her husband and the 5 medics who took care of her on site) are in isolation pending the result of Ebola testing on the patient. They are all well with no symptoms."

The Ministry of Health assures the public that there is no risk to the community, to fellow passengers on the plane from Nigeria and those in the airport.
114  Forum / The Buzz Central / EXCLUSIVE: Unveiling Omawumi’s Baby Daddy Tosin Yussuf [Photo Inside] on: 18-08-2014 07:56 AM
In 2011 when news broke that singer Omawumi was pregnant, the question that immediately followed was ‘who’s the daddy?’ The identity of her baby’s father was shrouded in mystery, and as such, several random names began to fly around including a popular south-south governor.

She welcomed her first child Emmanuella Kamillah Yusuf on Saturday, June 18, 2011 in the U.S and new reports surfaced in the media claiming that Tosin Yusuf, one time co-owner of Zamunda night club was actually Kamillah’s father.

All through this period, Omawumi kept her cool and refused to reveal the father of her daughter. But her close friend, and daughter’s godmother, Waje dropped a hint when she mentioned Tosin Yusuf in a tweet on May 7th, 2013, saying: ‘you don’t even care what your silky stories would be doing to her. Tosin Yussuf is fine and well, leave the poor girl alone. Tufiakwa!!!’.

At this point, keen observers knew his name, but all efforts to unmask the face behind the name by the media have since yielded no positive results. In late 2013, Omawumi herself released a blurry picture on instagram of her nuclear family that included herself, her daughter and Tosin Yussuf, with the caption ‘Thank you so much for your patience. Clearer photos and good news sooner than you know. God is always good’.

Shortly afterwards, another picture of Omawumi and 5 men surfaced online, and those in the know claimed that Omawumi’s boo is one of the men. Our investigation has now officially unmasked Omawumi’s boo and father of her daughter ‘Tosin Ibrahim Yussuf.’

Meet Tosin Ibrahim Yussuf:

He is a tall, dark and handsome young man, who holds a degree in Business Management and an MSc in International Business from De-Montfort University, Leicester. The easy going dude was part owner of the now defunct Zamunda night club in Lagos.

116  Forum / The Buzz Central / I Don't Owe You Any Explaination- Minister Who Approved Sawyer's Trip To Nigeria on: 14-08-2014 12:33 PM
The Liberian Minister who approved late Patrick Sawyer's trip to Nigeria has angrily reacted after he was criticized for letting Sawyer, a staff of the Liberian government, leave Liberia for Nigeria despite Liberian health officials placing him on Ebola danger list.

Deputy Finance Minister Sebastian Muah Omar told a Facebook user who asked him why he made such a decision that he does not owe him any explanation. He also said he wasn't late Sawyer's doctor to stop him from traveling.

One of the minister's followers queried him, saying,
Quote
“As his superior, if a man tells you his sister died from Ebola and he could have been exposed do you not think it is your duty to ask the hard questions or maybe you could have reported this to the health officials?.

The Minister said...

Quote
"A friend is dead, I do not owe you any explanation. POS (Patrick Sawyer) was a public health practitioner if you must know. The Ugandan doctor was a medical doctor if you again must know. They are no longer. So the freaking issue is not why he lied or didn’t lie to travel. But how we address the freaking disease. If you don’t have jack to say in that direction then frankly shut up on the subject. Sebastian Muah doesn’t have time today frankly for your rants." The minister said.

The Facebook follower said;
Quote
"Stop making silly excuses as to not being his doctor. This does not excuse you from asking the questions as a government official that would safeguard the lives of our citizens and your international partners. It is your duty, again as a Government official not wanting to go above and beyond his duty to safe guard our population.

Oh hell yes you do owe Liberians and the international community an explanation. You have through your negligence of not asking the proper questions exposed others to such a horrible Virus and you on here talking bull.

The minister replied:
Quote
"The old people say empty drum can’t make noise. So you will be talking by yourself as I see you don’t know what you are talking about and as a matter of finding solution you do not have any but trying to find blame. Someone must have frustrated the hell out of you in Liberia O…. Take me to the international court since I am guilty of approving a travel."

120  Forum / The Buzz Central / Breaking: Actor Robin Williams Found Dead At Home In Apparent Suicide on: 12-08-2014 02:18 AM
Oscar-winning actor and comedian Robin Williams was found dead on Monday from an apparent suicide at his home in Northern California, Marin County Sheriff’s Office said. He was 63.

The sheriff’s coroner’s division said it suspects the death was a suicide due to asphyxia, but the cause of death is still under investigation.

“This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken,” Williams’s wife Susan Schneider said in a statement.

Williams, who won an Academy Award for his role as a fatherly therapist in 1997′s “Good Will Hunting,” had been suffering from severe depression recently, his publicist Mara Buxbaum said.

Williams, who introduced his frenetic style on late 1970s TV series “Mork & Mindy” and had struggled with addiction in the past, had entered a Minnesota rehabilitation center last month to help him maintain sobriety.

His representatives at the time said Williams was not using drugs or alcohol but had gone to the center to “fine-tune and focus” his sobriety after working a longer-than-usual schedule.

The Marin County Sheriff’s office said it received an emergency call about noon local time on Monday, saying that Williams was unconscious and not breathing at his home near Tiburon, north of San Francisco.

Fellow comedic actor Steve Martin said in a tweet: “I could not be more stunned by the loss of Robin Williams, mensch, great talent, acting partner, genuine soul.”
