Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / GIRL, 13 MURDERED FOR RITUAL, KEPT IN FREEZER |
on: 15-10-2012 09:03 PM
| The people of Isanlu Headquarter Yagba Local Government Area of Kogi State were thrown into confusion recently following the gruesome murder of a thirteen year old girl who was deposited into a medium size freezer after been strangulated to death.
The girl identified as Yetunde Rachael Samuel, a JSS 2 student of Oluyori Comprehensive College, Isanlu was killed in the night of October 5 and neatly deposited inside a medium size freezer to create impression that the girl fell into the freezer and was frozen to death without any body knowing.
She was therefore hurriedly buried in the cover of the night without the parent or the guardian reporting her mysterious death to the police. But the state Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Musa Katsina who got wind of the dastardly act, suspected a fowl play, arrested the guardian of the girl and ordered that the corpse be exhume for a thorough autopsy to confirm whether the girl actually jumped inside the freezer and got frozen.
It was a hectic time for Daily Sun and detectives led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Zannah Mohammed who travelled down to the community with pathologist from Federal Medical Centre to exhume the decomposing corpse for autopsy.
The guardian of the girl who was at the centre of the mysterious death, Mrs. Deborah Motunrayo Jaiyeoba claimed that she left the girl who was the daughter of her younger sister at home on Saturday morning and left for a marriage ceremony According to her, when she got back from the wedding ceremony and did not see Yetunde she thought she had gone to play In her words She was thirsty and raced to the deep freezer to get a sachet of water to drink when she suddenly discovered that Yetunde was stone dead and she immediately raised alarm Mrs. Jaiyeoba, a sanitary inspector at the local government claimed Yetunde wanted to clean the deep freezer in her small retail, when she fell into it and got frozen to death Curiously, the father of the deceased girl was said to have felt indifferent about the death of her daughter, as he reportedly consented that she should be buried immediately It was gathered that mother of Yetunde was impregnated while she was in school and decided to drop the girl since when she was two years old with her sister to go and remarry in Ilorin
However, the autopsy carried out revealed that the girl was actually killed for ritual purposes Preliminary doctor's report confirmed that the girl died as result of neorogenic shock secondary to multiple skeletal injuries most likely sustained by blunt force trauma The doctor's report said two of the girl's teeth were removed. With some vital parts while the entire head region was battered with blunt instrument Speaking with Daily Sun, the CP said the whole episode was a case of culpable homicide, which is not bailable
He said the innocent girl was only brutally murdered, but expressed shock that the biological father of the girl did not show concern, instead, he brought a letter to his office along with somebody who claimed to be a judicial officer that the case be withdrawn.
He said when he interrogated the father; he could not even read nor comprehend the contents of the letter, which gave suspicion that some people were behind the murder. Musa Katsina called on members of the public to be more vigilante on their children and to know who to give their children to for upkeep. He vowed to pursue the case to a logical conclusion with those found guilty made to face the wrath of the law He gave the names of those arrested as 43-year-old Mrs. Jaiyeoba Deborah Motunrayo, who is the guardian and three of her children namely, Jaiyeoba Titilayo 20-year-old and Tunmininu jaiyeoba 23-year-old with jaiyeoba Femi, 18 years old Others are Shade Jimoh, Chief J. Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / I WAS GIVEN N1 MILLION AFTER THE ROBBERY OPERATION- BANK WORKER CONFESSES |
on: 15-10-2012 07:27 PM
| RASHEED Anifowoshe and Taiwo Aremu were drivers with two different new generation banks in Lagos until their arrest by men of the Lagos State police command. They were arrested in connection with some robbery operations at some of the banks in the state of excellence.
The duo, according to police, were allegedly responsible for providing vital information with which the gang armed themselves to operate in some of these operations. The duo of Rasheed and Taiwo allegedly acted as the insider, who provided the basic information for a successful robbery.
While Taiwo confessed to have given the armed robbers the information that led to the attack on the Matori, Mushin Branch of Sterling Bank, Rasheed denied being part of any of the robberies but admitted that he was only aware that such robberies would take place.
The two bank workers and eight others were a few days ago arrested by men of Area 'D' police command led by the Area Commander, Omololu Bishi, after a fierce gun fight with a gang of armed robbers, who attempted to rob a bank in Mushin.
Other suspects arrested alongside the two bank officials included: Ahmed Ajofoba, Abdulahi Abdulkarreem, Ahmed Adelakun, Saheed Olawunmi, Muktar Eleduwe, Lukeman Adekunle, Kola Adenuga, Idowu Adesola, Waheed and Adedokun Yusuf.
Crime Features gathered that the gang operated successfully on September 25 during which they made away with about N8 million. The gang was about to carry out another robbery around Mushin when the Area Commander and his men engaged them in a shoot-out that resulted in the arrest of Ahmed Ajofoba and Saheed Olawunmi.
A police source at Area 'D' Command, Mushin informed Crime Features that "after the shootout with the gang of eight armed robbers, six of them escaped and two of them were arrested. One locally-made pistol with one live cartridge was recovered from them.
The case was immediately transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, whose operatives arrested the armourer of the gang, Adedokun Yussuf, and the leader of the gang, Ahmed Adelakun.
It was learnt that the gang armourer and the leader escaped to Ayetoro area of Yewa in Ogun State, where the gang's hideout was situated, after the botched robbery operation.
Taiwo Aremu, while speaking with Crime Features, confessed to have given information to the armed robbers about his bank. He also admitted to have received N1 million, being his own share of the loot.
In his words, "I was the one who gave them information to come and rob in our bank. I told them about our workings and showed them the safe route to follow whenever they were coming. I told them to follow the back door because the back door would be opened on that day due to some arrangement the bank was making for the day."
He added: "They carted away N8 million and they gave me N900,000. I was introduced to the gang by one Ramon who is still at large. Ramon is a panel beater and we met when a colleague in the bank said he needed the service of a panel beater. So, when he came to our office, we became close and he informed me about the gang."'
On how he agreed to be part of the gang, the suspect said: "He told me that all he needed from me was a classified information on the workings of the bank and that the gang members would carry out the operation."
Aremu claimed that he initially refused not to answer him but "later, after he continued to pester me on phone, I volunteered the information which led to the robbery of May 25, 2012. They came at 7 p.m. after I had left. After the robbery, Ramon called me to meet with the guys in a hotel at Ifo in Ogun State where I collected my share."
The other arrested bank official, Anifowose, denied collecting any money from the loot of the operations, insisting that "when they came to our bank at Okota, they did not meet much cash and I did not collect anything."
The spiritualist of the gang, who the police described as an accomplice, Alfa Muktar Eleduwe, also denied taking part in any of the robbery operations but admitted to have offered prayers to "some members of the gang."
