Mr Fiddis Ogwugwa, he was lawfully married to his wife, Charity, on November 25, 1994 according to the marriage act. The marriage produced two children, a boy and a girl. But something happened...
Anyway, a Delta State High Court, Kwale, has dissolved the 19-year-old marriage of a Lagos businessman, Mr Fiddis Ogwugwa, on the ground that his wife, Charity, engaged in amorous affairs with the ex-Executive Director of Law Union and Rock Insurance Company, Mr Olusegun Ilori.
The court in its judgment also ordered Ilori and Charity, to jointly pay N500,000 damages for the trauma and trespass, they caused Mr Ogwugwa and particularly for the irresponsible acts of Ilori in ruining the matrimonial home of Mr Ogwugwa.
Olusegun Ilori was at the time of filing the divorce petition Executive Director of Law Union, while Charity was Project Manager.
The divorce petition was initially filed before a Lagos State High Court, before it was re-filed before a Delta State High Court, Kwale, when the petition was struck out by Justice Dawodu Williams.
In his statement, Mr Ogwugwa stated that what led to the collapse of their marriage started sometime in the year 2003, when his wife started excusing herself to receiving phone calls at odd hours of the day therefore, the petitioner became suspicious.
He added that between December 2003 and February 2004, he found an amorous text from Segun Ilori to his wife, he then called both of them and cautioned them about the misconduct to which both denied any segxwal relationship.
But weeks later, on April 18, 2010, he [Mr Ogwugwa] sent an email that could only be shared between two lovers to his wife, she acknowledged the mail on April 19, 2010, shortly after, she forwarded same mail to Segun Ilori and in error forwarded a copy back to him.
This opened floodgate of suspicion that led to the discovery of several amorous email messages between the two lovers.
Upon being confronted by the petitioner, his wife confessed to having an adulterous and unprotected oral sex with her boss in the office on several other occasions.
Consequently, Mr Ogwugwa sought the dissolution of the marriage on the ground that the marriage had broken down and the custody of the two children produced by the marriage and N20 million as special and general damages for the trauma, tresspass and irresponsibility of Segun Ilori, the party cited in the divorce petition as the person responsible for the collapse of the marriage.
In her judgment, the presiding judge, Justice Jahegho Williams, said: “I have carefully considered this petition. They are not contradicted or controverted and as such, assumed to be correct. This court, therefore, has no option in the absence of any other fact mitigating against the petition, has been proved as required by law. I, therefore, dissolve the said marriage of November 25, 1994. Further, I give custody of the children to the petitioner (the husband).

A man who worked as a substitute teacher pleaded guilty to sex charges after having inappropriate relationships with three high school students in the space of a single school year. Jamar Ballard, 29, accepted three concurrent 15-year prison terms on two counts of improper relationship between an educator and a student and one count of segxwal assault of a child. Ballard was arrested in April after a student told a staff member at Nacogdoches High School that she had sex with the substitute in a classroom. Additional victims came forward after Ballard's initial arrest, the station reported at the time. An arrest warrant affidavit outlined in a separate KTRE report states that Ballard asked a student to meet him in the classroom after school. The affidavit noted that video surveillance from the school "shows the girl go into the classroom and then Ballard looking right and left down the hallway before closing the door." A Nigerian, identified as Gunseye Adekunle, collapsed and died last Saturday at the JFK International Airport in New York, United States. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quoted local media as saying that the man died after suffering a heart attack at Terminal 4 of the airport while preparing to board an Arik Air flight to Nigeria. NAN reports on Thursday that two teams of rescue squad failed to reach him because their electronic identity cards could not open the secure doors at the newly renovated Delta terminal. “A call went out for help but what happened next was a massive mix-up. You had all the assets needed to keep this guy alive, but they never really had the chance to help him. “A Port Authority police emergency operator got the call at about 6:30 a.m. and was told Adekunle was `unresponsive’ but breathing. “One minute later, a PAPD ambulance known as Medical One was dispatched but the crew was unable to enter the terminal from the street two minutes afterward because an officer’s security card wasn’t working. “The trouble delayed the Medical One team for two vital minutes, but then they were able to get into the building by another route and got to Adekunle,’’ NAN quoted a law enforcement source as saying to U.S media. Ogwashi-Uku, Asaba, Delta State -- A factory worker met his death after allegedly engaging in an act of oral sex with a commercial sex worker in the area. It has been gathered that the man [name withheld] have 'gone down' on the commercial sex worker after having sex with her, and started throwing up after that. He was rushed to a nearby hospital only to die there. Unconfirmed reports have it that the late factory worker had a preference for oral sex. The landlord of the deceased, speaking on the condition of anonymity, alleged that the commercial sex worker may have poisoned the man as she fled the scene unnoticed immediately after the incident occurred. It is worth mentioning that no fewer than six men have died in similar circumstance recently. The police spokesman in the state, ASP Lucky Uyabeme, confirming the death said the body of the factory worker had been deposited at the General Hospital, Ogwashi-Uku, for autopsy. One person was gunned down, while three others sustained injuries during gun battle between the police and suspected robbers at Ngborokpo village in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, yesterday. Also, 17 suspected robbers were arrested by the police where three AK 47 riffles, two pump action guns, four locally made pistols, some quantity of ammunition, a television set and a teddy bear which they used in concealing guns were recovered. Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the Anambra State Police command, Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka, told newsmen at the headquarters of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government Area, that the 17 suspects were arrested in various parts of the state for variuos offences, including bank robbery. Among the suspects was a 16-year-old Ifeanyi Onwe said to be a specialist in bank robbery. He was said to be using beautiful girls to track people that withdrew large sums of money from the banks. According to Chukwuemeka, some of the suspects were in the habit of blocking major roads in Nawfia, Awgbu, Ufuma, Abba, among other areas where they robbed people. The PPRO alleged that some of the suspects were also involved in the killing of a 55-year-old man in Awgbu and another woman at Nanka four days ago, as well as in the molesting of girls in parts of the state. He said: “To the ordinary eye, the TV set and the teddy bear they were carrying were just what they were meant to be. But for this gang, what they do is to open the TV set and rip open the teddy’s tommy, conceal pistols and ammunition in them and when they enter any vehicle, nobody will know they had guns until they begin operation. “They invented this style to escape from the police and other security agencies, but our men were able to beat them to their game.” Ifeanyi Onwe, the 16-year-old suspect confessed to the crime, admitting that he used to plant young girls in banks in Onitsha to give members of his gang information concerning withdrawals. He said: “I was a student in a secondary school in Onitsha before I dropped out in JSS 1 because my parents could not fund my education. Thereafter, I met a friend who introduced me into this deal. We have carried out many robbery operations in Onitsha and its environs.” Another suspect simply identified as Ebuka said he was arrested by SARS operatives when he went to visit his friend. He said: “I went to visit my friend without knowing that he was being wanted by the police for robbery. As I was still there, SARS operative broke into the house and arrested all of us. xYou all remember the law maker who was filmed hitting his colleague with the mace during the mayhem at Rivers State Assembly last week? Yeah well, he's been declared wanted by the police.
Punch reports Following the free-for-all that took place in the chambers of the Rivers State House of Assembly, the state Police Command has declared the Majority Leader, Mr. Chidi Lloyd, wanted. Lloyd was on Wednesday declared wanted for his involvement in a case of conspiracy, attempted murder, wounding and willful damage on Monday last week. The lawmaker, representing Emohua State Constituency, was caught in a video footage hitting a member of the House of Assembly, Mr. Michael Chinda, several times with a mace during the fracas in the Assembly.
Chinda, whose health condition became worse after the incident, had since been flown abroad for proper medical attention. He represents Obio/Akpor Constituency II in the State House of Assembly. The injured legislator was one of the five lawmakers that attempted to impeach the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Otelemaba Amachree.
In a statement by the state Police Public Relations, Mrs. Angela Agabe, the command explained that Lloyd was declared wanted after he failed to honour the invitation of the police, which elapsed on July 16, 2013.
“The Rivers State Police Command has declared wanted one Honorable Chidi Lloyd (male); a native of Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State. He is the Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
“He (Lloyd) was involved in a case of conspiracy, attempted murder, wounding and willful damage on the 9th of July, 2013,” the command’s statement read. The crime, according to the statement, is being investigated by a special team from the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, in collaboration with the State Criminal Investigative Department, Rivers State Command.
It noted that the lawmaker was last seen at the Rivers State House of Assembly on July 9, 2013 and called on any person or group of persons with information of Lloyd’s whereabouts to call 0808088890 or 08033277007.
Reacting to the development, the State Peoples Democratic Party described police declaration of Lloyd wanted as a welcome development. A statement by the Special Adviser, Media, to the State PDP Chairman, Mr. Jerry Needam, urged the Police to also arrest and investigate the Aide-de-Camp and Chief Security Officer to the state Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi. However, the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Leyii Kwanee, expressed dissatisfaction with the decision of the police to declare Lloyd wanted. Kwanee, who spoke in a telephone interview with The PUNCH on Wednesday, said the fracas in the state House of Assembly was not the first.
The deputy speaker recalled that lawmakers had fought in the National Assembly in the past without the police declaring anybody wanted. In a related development, the Force Headquarters, Abuja, has summoned Lloyd; the ADC to the Rivers State Governor, Debeware-Semeikumo; and the Chief Security Officer to the Governor, Tony Iwelu, for interrogation.
They are to report to the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja, for interrogation for their roles in the Assembly mayhem as seen in the video clips in circulation, according to the police.
Lloyd is one of the members of the House loyal to the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi. The PUNCH had exclusively reported on Monday that Amaechi’s ADC had been summoned for interrogation by the Force Headquarters for engaging in a brawl with a member of the state assembly as captured in a video.
A statement by the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, on Wednesday stated that the men were invited to obtain further details that would assist proper investigation into the matter.
Heavily pregnant former Olympian, 26 year old Meskerem Legesse, suddenly collapsed and died while having lunch with her two year old son in a restaurant in Connecticut on Monday July 15th. The Ethiopia runner, who was three weeks from her due date (pictured above minutes before collapsing) was given CPR at the restaurant before an ambulance rushed her to a hospital where she was declared dead. Fortunately the doctors were able to save her baby. The cause of death was unclear but her friend told reporters that the professional runner had suffered heart problems in the past and that's why she retired early from sports. So sad!
