41  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Execution of Iranian Killer Stopped at Last Minute by Victim's Mother on: 17-04-2014 02:02 PM
Iranian sentenced to death was granted life at the last minute by the mother of his victim. A convict had a noose already around his neck when the mother of the victim approached him, slapped in the face and spared his life.

Incredible story that shook the whole world teaches us about mercy and opportunity to change any situation. Mother of the victim was merciful to save his life. She stopped the execution right when the noose was around the neck of Balal, the person who killed her son.

Balal is found guilty in stabbing an 18-year-old Abdollah Hosseinzadeh 7 years ago in a street brawl in Royan, a town in Northern province of Mazandaran.

The court ruled for the death penalty. The victim’s family was supposed to participate in execution by pushing the chair, on which Balal stood. However, the mother of Hosseinzadeh approached the convict, approached and slapped him in the face. Then she decided to forgive the killer of her son. The father of the victim removed the noose from Balal’s neck. Mother of the victim was leaving the place in tears, when the mother of Balal approached her, hugged her and they sobbed together.

Abdollahani Hosseinzadeh, father of the victim, said to Isna: "My 18-year-old son Abdollah was taking a stroll in the bazaar with his friends when Balal shoved him." He went on: "Abdollah was offended and kicked him but at this time the murderer took an ordinary kitchen knife out of his socks."

By Iranian laws, a person representing the victim may stop and cancel the death penalty, however the sentence will be charged by the officials.

Father of the victim has eventually come to the conclusion that Balal killed his son non-deliberately. “Balal was inexperienced and didn't know how to handle a knife. He was naïve," he said.

Balal ran from the scene of the accident, but was arrested by the police shortly after. The court came to the verdict after 6 years since it has happened.

The family of the victim deferred the execution several times.

The father of the killed boy confessed that his wife had a dream several days before the execution. "Three days ago my wife saw my elder son in a dream telling her that they are in a good place, and for her not to retaliate … This calmed my wife and we decided to think more until the day of the execution."

The family of the victim was asked by many public figures of Iran to forgive the victim and cancel the execution.

Iran is one of the countries with the biggest number of death penalties in the world.

43  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / An Open Letter to Nigerian Religious Leaders(Must Read) on: 17-04-2014 01:53 PM

Since the recent bombings in Abuja Nigeria, emotions have been running high with so many citizens expressing their anger online and offline. In the midst of it all, I have watched carefully and searched for any statement from religious leaders. For two days, I saw nothing except from a certain Pastor that claims to have prophesied the incident.

That wasn’t going to help in anyway so I ignored that and kept on searching. Finally, after two days the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Orisetjafor released a statement; how happy was I? but after reading it, I must confess I have been left deflated and disappointed. He didn’t suggest any solutions to the Boko Haram issue but simply condemned the act and placed a curse on the perpetrators. Whether that will solve our immediate problems is left for you to decide depending on your belief.

Since the unfortunate incident happened on Monday, I have seen comments from several religious Nigerians online, these comments include: ‘pray for Nigeria’, ‘let’s keep praying for Nigeria’, ‘don’t stop praying for Nigeria’and the most disturbing for me came from IK Osakodiwa of Rhythm FM suggesting that the issue of Boko Haram is spiritual and we need to intensify our prayers. If I may ask, are we the only nation in the world? Why has the devil chosen Nigeria? Is the issue of epileptic power supply spiritual? the issue of bad roads, spiritual?the issue of insecurity? how about the issue of corruption and missing funds?and the educational sector? unemployment? NIS recruitment tragedy?

ARE ALL THE ISSUES FACING NIGERIA SPIRITUAL?
It is therefore evident that millions of Nigeria believe that the solution to Nigeria’s numerous problems lies in praying. The argument in favour of this has been ‘Nigerians are helpless’. Whilst this may be true, many of us know that we have been praying since 1960 and nothing has changed, sadly the situation has gone from bad to worse and I can smell war. We therefore have to change our tactics fast.
I have pictured in my head what will happen in religious centres across the nation over the weekend.
I see people offering thanksgiving and sharing testimonies of how they missed the bomb blast by seconds. I see religious leaders assuring their members that they are safe from Boko Haram because they are God’s children.

I see prophesies of safety concerning the congregation’s children, their children’s children, their cattle and dogs etc.I see religious leaders asking the congregation to pray for Nigeria for a couple of minutes and in their sub-consciousness the congregation will believe they have done their bit to help with Nigeria’s issues. It is a vicious cycle that occurs from weekend to weekend.  However, one thing I am sure of is that several religious people died in that blast and several others die daily in our country from accidents due to bad roads, stray bullets due to insecurity and hunger due to poverty. My point is nobody is safe and it can happen to anyone at any time.

So what do we have to do? I have decided to view the solution to Nigeria’s problem from a religious angle. Since we are such a religious country and have so much respect for our religious leaders, I have cause to believe the solution lies therein.  Therefore, I am writing this to you because I know how respected you are and how millions of Nigerians take your word for what it is.

May I therefore, plead with Nigerian religious leaders to do things differently when their congregation gather for worship this weekend?
• Could you please let your members know that prayers only CANNOT and WILL not solve our problems. If it could, Nigeria will be the best country on earth because we have prayed and prayed and prayed
• Could you please encourage them to start getting angry with the government and demand for their rights? The citizen of any country is entitled to some basic amenities from the government. Several governmentsin Nigeria have come and gone and have not been able to provide us with our entitlements. Many people have turned to God due to helplessness and hopelessness
• Could you please let your congregation know that God will not come down to help us and we have to help ourselves
If you already do this, please intensify it this weekend when your congregation gathers for worship, we need to change the thinking of the average Nigerian. The moment we come to the realization that God will not come down to help us, I believe we will become more ‘aggressive’ and demand for change.
We have to start from somewhere.

Let’s do this for the future of generations unborn.

44  Forum / The Buzz Central / Paul Walker's Brothers To Help Finish 'Fast & Furious 7' on: 17-04-2014 01:40 PM

Paul Walker's death left a question mark hanging over "Fast & Furious 7." That question mark evaporated last month when the filmmakers revealed they'll use CGI to finish the actor's missing scenes. Now, Universal has confirmed via the movie's Facebook page that Walker's two brothers, Caleb and Cody, will be involved with that process as well.

The exact capacity in which they'll contribute is hazy. Regardless, the filmmakers praised the familial nature of the cast and crew, saying the presence of Walker's brothers on the set paid homage to the late actor.

We have resumed shooting and now welcome Paul’s brothers, Caleb and Cody, into our FAST family. Caleb and Cody are helping us complete some remaining action for their brother and fill in small gaps left in production. Having them on set has made us all feel that Paul is with us too.

We are just under a year away from the release of FAST & FURIOUS 7, and this film is the most important we’ve ever done together. It will allow the character of Brian O’Conner to live on and let us celebrate Paul in his most defining role.

Production on "Fast 7" was delayed in the wake of Walker's death last November. Director James Wan was uncertain how the movie would complete the actor's scenes, saying the character would be "retired' rather than killed off.

This is coming few weeks after Laide's new hubby, popular Lagos businessman, Alhaji Tunde Oriowo was declared wanted by the EFCC for fraud.

The ex-husband, Olumide in an interview with 247 magazine:

“You see, Laide has just started. She hasn’t even reached where she’s going. She will soon leave this Alhaji because she likes a comfortable place. I heard she claims that I don’t have money. Now she’s where she can get money. When I met her, she was driving a Celica. I bought her a 2 million Chrysler car. When she had our child, I bought a first-class ticket for her to bring our baby.”

“I later bought Infinity Jeep that she gave her younger sibling. When she was about to marry me, it was the money she saw. When she came to America, I bought her a 4matic Benz. Laide isn’t a good person, she is yet to see God’s wrath.”

Laide and new hubby, Alhaji Tunde Oriowo

Meanwhile the mother of two in a statement defended her husband saying: “I’m standing by my husband on this matter, believing that the EFCC publication was meant to destroy his hard-earned reputation as a philanthropist who derives joy in helping people. He is my hubby and I would stand by him through thick and thin. The story was also a calculated attempt to smear my own name as a celebrity and irrespective of whoever is behind it, I stand by my husband and we shall come out victorious.”

It would be recalled that Laide Bakare's last year had a messy marriage separation with her ex-husband, Olumide, the father of her first child, Similoluwa after the latter accused her of using him to get a green card and dumping him afterwards for her new hubby, Alhaji Oriowo.

Laide Bakare now married to Tunde Oriowo has a son for him, she gave birth to last year.

The two were at it for a while, with the estranged husband claiming he's the father of her second child and not the new husband, also threatened to have her arrested. Of course Laide Bakare did not keep silence on the issue while exonerating herself, lambasted her ex, revealed some shocking details about their marriage.

51  Forum / The Buzz Central / US rapper cuts off his own penis, jumps off balcony on: 17-04-2014 12:33 PM

Rapper Andre Johnson, who raps with a group called Northstar, reportedly cut off his penis early Wednesday morning and then took a leap from a second floor balcony of an apartment building in Los Angeles, according to a Fox News report on Wednesday.

The incident involving the rapper, who previously has done work with members of the group Wu-Tang Clan, occurred at 1 a.m. The apparent suicide attempt did not take hold for Andre Johnson.

After the self-inflicted mutilation actions against himself, others at the apartment – Johnson’s friends and fellow rappers – rushed to the ground floor of the apartment. The rapper was reportedly running around and screaming in excruciating pain – as one would imagine. Those present claim that he wasn’t on any hard drugs or anything that would have caused him to do such a thing. The motive Johnson had in committing the self-inflicted acts of violence is not known. Authorities are simply classifying the incident as an attempted suicide, according to an Inquisitr report on Wednesday.

A witness to the incident, who remains unidentified, stated that Johnson’s cutting off of his penis as well as his lunging from the apartment building’s second floor balcony was totally unexpected. The source also said that the incident occurred incredibly fast. It was the self-mutilation act immediately followed by the leaping from the balcony.

Following the incident, Johnson was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center from the North Hollywood area’s apartment building where he was at when he did these things to himself. It is not known whether doctors have attempted to reattach Johnson’s penis or not. The Cedars-Sinai Medical Center would not comment on the medical case, as a spokesperson for the medical center said its policy is to not comment on a patient’s condition.

53  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / EXPOSED: Funsho Williams Was Strangled To Death In Lagos on: 17-04-2014 11:12 AM

The Lagos State Chief Forensic Pathologist, Prof. John Obafunwa, on Wednesday told a Lagos High Court in the Igbosere area of the state that the slain former governorship candidate in the state, Funsho Williams, was by all available analysis strangled to death by his killers.

Funsho Williams, who was to contest the 2007 governorship election in Lagos, was murdered on July 27, 2006, at his residence, 34A, Corporation Drive, Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi.

Prof. Obafunwa said: “Based on our findings, the deceased’s death resulted from asphyxia or lack of air intake due to manual strangulation, and the wounds found on the deceased can be described as defence wounds.

“Blood and urine samples, eye fluids, stomach contents, nail scmolestings and clippings were also taken by the police for further forensic analysis after which I made a report.”

Obafunwa, who was testifying as a prosecution witness before Justice Adeniyi Adebajo, said the post moterm conducted on the deceased person’s body showed that this death resulted from asphyxia (lack of oxygen intake) due to “manual strangulation.”

The pathologist, who was led in evidence by the prosecuting counsel, Mrs. O.A Akin-Adesomoju, said an X-ray photograph also revealed a fracture of the thyroid cartilage (neck bone) of the body.

He added that there were bruises and defence wounds noticed on parts of the late politician’s body.

He said that he visited the scene of the crime at the deceased person’s residence at 34A, Corporation Drive, Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi at 5.30pm on July 27, 2006, following a call informing him of the deceased’s death.

Obafunwa told the court that he waited for policemen to arrive before he later saw the corpse at 10pm.

He said, “I saw the body of a middle aged man, identified by the family, having his hands tied and lying face down in a pool of blood on a dagger wrapped with a newspaper.

“I covered the hands and taped it with a paper to prevent a foreign DNA which may occur during the movement of the body so as not to affect forensic investigations.

“I noticed that the room was scattered along with two other rooms which I checked before the body was moved to Creek Military Hospital and I left at midnight.

“During the post-mortem examination, myself and two other pathologists at Creek Hospital discovered a cut on the deceased forehead and bruises around his neck.”

Already, six young men – Bulama Kolo, Musa Maina, David Cassidy, Tunani Sonani, Mustapha Kayode and Okponwasa Imariabie – are standing trial before the court for the murder of Williams.

Counsel for the defendants, Mr. Agbara Okezie, declined to cross-examine the pathologist.

The defendants, according to the charge, on or about July 27, 2006, at 34A, Corporation Drive, Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi, conspired to murder Williams, an engineer.

Justice Adebajo adjourned further trial till May 7. The saga continues.

55  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Parents, school principal say no girl was rescued in Chibok on: 17-04-2014 10:07 AM

Yesterday evening we all heard the happy news that over a hundred secondary school girls abducted on Monday evening at Government Girls Secondary School Chibok had been freed by the military. But unfortunately this information is not true.

Parents of the missing girls, the principal of the school and Borno state governor told reporters this morning that the military lied about the rescue operation as the girls were still missing.

Below is what the principal of the school, Mrs Asabe Kwambura, told Premium Times this morning:

"There is nothing in the military statement that is true about our abducted girls. Up till now we are still waiting and praying for the safe return of the students; all I know is that we have only 14 of them, and the security people especially the Vigilante and the well meaning volunteers of Gwoza are still out searching for them. The military people too are in the bush searching. So we have not received any information that they have gotten the students yet. So let it be clear that all the information passed on the media by the military concerning 107 girls is not true. I, as the principal did not tell any body any figure on released students other than what our Governor, His Excellency Kashim Shettima had informed the media.” Continue...

Borno state Governor, ashim Shettima told the BBC Hausa service this morning that only 14 girls had escaped

“We have recovered 14 of the girls and we have announced a N50 million reward for any credible information that will help us get our girls released and rejoined with their families.”

Military spokesperson Major General Chris Olukolade, had issued a statement yesterday claiming that over 100 abducted girls had been freed and only 8 were missing. But when contacted again, Olukayode said it was the principal of the school who told the military that only eight girls were now missing.

The Principal defended herself by saying;

"I told them that I don’t want to be seen to be contradicting myself on that because what the governor said was what we know about; and I told them there may be additional rescue of the girls, but up to this moment we have not received any of them apart from what we had before. What the governor said is still the true picture of the whole issue and that information given by the military is totally wrong.”

57  Forum / The Buzz Central / Man so petrified of the Kardashians that the sight of them makes him vomit on: 16-04-2014 10:19 PM

Some guy who is looking for his 15 minutes of fame claims he's so petrified of the Kardashians that the sight of a semi-naked Kim on TV makes him vomit with disgust.

Speaking to reporters, 24 year old retail assistant Mike Amess from Exeter said he breaks out in a cold sweat whenever he sees or hears any member of the Kardashians on his TV.

'Just hearing the sound of the Kardashians' nasal voices or catching a glimpse of them on screen makes me feel nauseous and shaky. My hands get clammy, my breathing gets heavier and I start sweating. Sometimes, I get teary and want to retch.'

Mike, who is gay, says his fear of the Kardashians started when he watched Kim's sex tape with Ray J when he was only seventeen. Continue...

"I was raised Catholic and growing up, I tried to repress my segxwality and deny that I was gay. Loads of the boys at school were going on about how good Kim Kardashian's sex tape was. I thought I'd give it a watch in the hope it would turn me on. I downloaded the video and watched it secretly in my bedroom. But the sight of Kim writhing around with her huge bum and the sound of her horrible high-pitched wailing repulsed me. I really wanted to be aroused by her so I kept watching it but she made me feel more and more upset.

"By the end of the tape, I had burst into tears. The experience left me terrified and I never wanted to see Kim's face again. I have come to terms with my homosegxwality now but my dread towards her has never left.'

'Kim and her sisters look and sound so similar - they're a mess. They make my stomach churn, I hate it.I dislike everything about them, especially their physical appearance. I don't understand how anyone could find them attractive.I can't stand their voices either. They're so whiny and shrill - it really gets under my skin.'

'It's impossible to get away from Kim, let alone her whole family. Every website or magazine you read has them plastered all over. I really enjoy reading the news but if I see Kim on the cover of a newspaper or a big picture of her across a website, I won't go near it. It makes life really difficult. Sometimes, I miss out on a lot of important news or celebrity gossip because I have to avoid anything which features the Kardashians.'

Mike claims he threw up after accidentally seeing Kanye West's racy music video, 'Bound 2', which features a Private Kim.

"One day, I was lazing about on the sofa in front of the TV. I was skipping through music channels and that video came on. Seeing Kim naked, with her boobs bouncing about like that brought back memories of that horrendous sex tape. It was like reliving that incident all over again. Before I knew it, I was sweating like a pig and throwing up. When I hear 'Bound 2' on the radio now, I have to switch the station immediately.'

He says his fear of the Kardashians has made dating hard for him because a lot of gay people love the Kardashians.

"A lot of the gay community love the Kardashians so it makes dating tough sometimes. I've been romantically involved with several people who like them and each one of these relationships have ended badly. My last boyfriend watched all of their shows and kept up with the celeb gossip surrounding them. He thought the Kardashians were fascinating.

'At first, he found my fear funny and kind of cute. But over time, he wanted to talk about the Kardashians with me and of course, that's not something I was really up for doing.

'We had a big argument once when he demanded to watch the latest episode of 'Keeping up with the Kardashians' whilst I was with him.

'We had a blazing row in which he called my phobia immature and attention-seeking. I ended up storming out of his flat.

'In the end, it became difficult spending time with him and definitely played a role in our break-up.'

Despite his unusual phobia, Mike says he's too embarrassed to see a doctor about it

'I don't know how I could face a doctor about it. I can just see them laughing in my face the minute I told them about my fear of the Kardashians. It would be totally mortifying.'

Nwofor, who used to be a deputy president of the Chambers of Commerce Mines and Agriculture, was attacked by soldiers of the 302-brigade Onitsha.

According to witnesses, the attackers were drunk and were heading on a mission to loot. The local community was shocked by this development.

Nwofor was reportedly driving to Asaba, after visiting his clients. Once arriving to the Upper Iweka road in Onitsha, which is under construction, and has only one lane, Chuma Nwofor got stuck in a traffic jam.

An army truck with no siren, or escort car, forced itself into the middle of the road, and had hit Nwofor’s car, and another vehicle, a Mitsubishi Van.

The occupants of the Mitsubishi Van came out of their car and confronted the army truck driver, whose reckless driving caused damage to the vehicle. Nwafor has also joined them.

However, such complaints infuriated the driver and the soldiers, who were reportedly under the influence of alcohol.

The unidentified driver, four other soldiers pounced on Barrister Nwafor without a warning. They beat him up with iron rods from their vehicle, used the butts of their guns to hit the victim. Some witnesses say the drunken soldiers tore open his head with their blows.

Nwofor was thrown on the ground and lost consciousness, while the attackers moved to search the vehicle of the victim, collected some items from it, including the money that his customers had paid him. The money allegedly stolen by the soldiers is the equivalent of over USD100,000 (N17,000,000).

The military men took the unconscious man to their barracks. They refused to let him go for treatment to a local hospital, kept bleeding PDP chief in the cell for about 3 hours.

According to a source of Saharareporters, the decision to hold Nwofor was a trick to ‘buy time’, and enable the soldiers to cleanly cart away the money, and the items they removed from the vehicle.

Chuma Nwofor had requested the names of the soldiers involved, but Captain GC Ohaeri, refused to disclose their names, or identify what rank the men held.

Finally, the victim was released from the barracks and taken to Onitsha General Hospital for treatment and examination. He had lost a lot of blood, and lost consciousness several times.

The witnesses stated the incident looked like a well-planned robbery, and an act of intimidation. Speculation continues to fly in this case.

The victim plans to take up the matter with the National Human Right Commission and to also sue for recovering of the stolen funds and damages. A renowned lawyer, Sam Ologunorisha (SAN), will support him.

One of the main questions is why would the army allow a drunken officer to be on the road at that time of the morning armed with guns?

Meet Damilola and Joshua, the sons of top Gospel movie producer, Mike Bamiloye of Mount Zion Film Productions.

Damilola is the first son, he graduated from Bowen university years ago and he says his father is his mentor and role model. He is into movie production – the likes of ‘Fiwajomi’, ‘Dying with the king’, ‘youthful lust’ etc.

He started as a script writer but he has added another cap to his job title – he now oversees and produces movies too.

Their father, Mike, was a year older on the 13th of April.

The Ibadan-based ministry is Nigeria’s foremost and biggest drama group. It was founded by Evangelist Mike Bamiloye.

Bamiloye’s talents and creativity are outstanding as he writes the scripts of all his movies and drama series, which has earned him so much respect. The popular movie evangelist is however achieving this feat with the joint effort of his wife, Gloria, with whom he has been able to build a brand which has not only gained recognition in Nigeria but also on the global scene.

They have a very inspiring success story as they both grew the group from the scratch with barely little money to finance their project. Evangelist Mike Bamiloye actually started the ministry when he was 25 years old, and since them, he has not had any course to look back.
