In a shocking drug trafficking case, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a woman, Ihensekhien Obehi, at the Port Harcourt International Airport for attempting to smuggle over 2.5 kilograms of cocaine to Iran using an elaborate concealment method.
Obehi, who disguised herself in a hijab, was intercepted on Sunday, May 3, 2025, while attempting to board a Qatar Airways flight to Iran via Doha. Her arrest followed a meticulous search that revealed cocaine hidden in multiple parts of her body and belongings.
NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, confirmed the arrest in a statement, disclosing that the suspect had swallowed 67 cocaine pellets, inserted three wraps into her private part, and concealed two large parcels in the false bottom of her handbag.
“She was placed under strict excretion watch, and over the course of four sessions, she expelled all 67 pellets. She later admitted that she was instructed to ingest 70 but stopped at 67 due to discomfort, opting instead to insert the remaining three into her private part,” Babafemi said.
The total weight of the drugs recovered from Obehi’s body and bag was 2.523 kilograms.
The NDLEA has intensified its surveillance and operations at airports nationwide, warning that no concealment strategy—no matter how unconventional—will go undetected.
