Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Mary Remmy Njoku, has stirred deep reflection online with a series of thought-provoking questions about life, death, and purpose.
In a post shared via her Instagram Story, Njoku questioned why people are still alive while others—some of whom were “better, kinder, and more faithful”—have passed away.
She encouraged her followers to truly consider the reason behind their existence.
“I have a simple but important question for everyone today: Why are we alive? Why are you still here while so many others, some better, kinder, more faithful, are gone? What’s your purpose?” she asked.
The actress challenged commonly used religious justifications, warning against using default answers like “God loves me” or “it’s grace.” She acknowledged that while grace and divine love are valid, they don’t fully explain why some people remain alive while others do not.
Mary further criticized the overused claim of being alive “to win souls for Christ,” pointing out that many who were more committed to that mission are no longer here. “You’re not out-preaching them,” she wrote.
Ending her post on a serious note, Njoku urged her followers to reflect on their real contribution to the world around them:
“What is your real purpose? What’s your actual contribution to people, to your community, to this moment in time?”
