Germany international Marko Marin is already confirmed as making the switch to Stamford Bridge this summer and the newspaper reports the Chelsea hierarchy see Fellaini as a valuable addition to the club’s midfield.
At only 24 Fellaini fits the brief believed to be guiding Chelsea’s transfer policy - younger plays to compliment the ageing legs of the likes of Frank Lampard and John Terry. The Mirror suggests a fee of around £20m will be offered to Everton for the Belgium international.
Fellaini signed a new five-year contract at Everton in November 2011 and has become an integral part of David Moyes’ side since moving to Goodison Park from Standard Liege in 2008 for an Everton record fee of around £15m.
