NFA board member Emeka Inyama, who disclosed this to newsmen, said the board decided to announce the venue now to end the growing speculation about the venue of the matches.
``The realm of speculation is over. Come June 3, the Super Eagles will play in Calabar.
``It is a notable venue and this has been confirmed. Calabar, which has hosted several national teams in the past, has natural grass,’’ he said.
However, the media had earlier listed Calabar, Owerri, Kaduna and Abuja as the venues being considered for the matches.
Inyama also said the NFA needed to quickly decide on the choice of venue for the matches because the world governing body, FIFA, had given it until Friday to do so.
``We had a number of choices, and we looked at them all. But after looking at all options, and with the fact that Abuja cannot be ready before time, we had to settle for Calabar,’’ he said.
The Eagles, who are currently in camp in Abuja, are to play the 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifying matches next month.
They are to take on Namibia on the opening day of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying race on Sunday, June 3.
The team will also fly to Blantyre for a Matchday 2 fixture in the series against the Flames of Malawi on Saturday, June 9.
The Eagles will return to Nigeria to clash with the Amavubi of Rwanda in the return leg of a 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifying fixture on Sunday, June 17.
Meanwhile, NFA has confirmed that the Eagles would leave for Lima aboard an Iberia Airline flight on May 19 for the international friendly against Peru on May 23.
According to NFA Chief Media Officer Ademola Olajire, the team will return to Nigeria on May 26 and head straight to Calabar.
