I took time to run through the written and visualized profile of Mr. Obahiagbon whose name rings bell in the subsurface of the Nigerian National Assembly politics not because of his inputs in the growth of the country but his, according to many Nigerians,"unusual communication style". Most times he has borrowed word or phrases (field limited jargon) from one professional field and use them in another context where they do not fit in at all or not fit in properly. Further, some of the words he uses reflect in the newest editions of major English dictionaries as archaic whereas some others are not found at all, to mention but a few. In addition, it is certain that most Nigerians neither understand nor enjoy his speeches. These findings and more leave me with many thoughts: Is this right for today's (21st century) Nigerian politics? Is he just a genius in (old) English grammar? Is he lost in the political arena and only trying to establish his ground using this technique? Is this a good communication? Is he mentally sick? Could you imaging every politician even the world's leading politicians like Obama and Cameron speak like him?
