Although, it is necessary to follow our cultures and traditions, female children are also part of the family, so give them what belong to them no matter how small.....

I  taught the question should be , should a single female share in the family inheritance, cause in some part of Ibo land once you are married, you belong to your husband's family, you will not inheriate anything, but if you're single yes you're still part of the family and should be treated like the men. To me who cares l think everyone should get share cause the man brought all of them into this earth  Brothers and Sisters why is it that when you suggest to any african about writting a WIL, they think you want them dead. if everyone have a WIl, this topic will never be an issue. my people write your WIL now even if the only thing you have is clothings Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin . save your love onces from killing their self after you have gone. SAY NO TO POLYGAMY  IT'S A DISEASE.

theirs not much case in that, let the female children stay in one house until they are married and the other wife and children will control the remaining two,but if the boys insist on having all of them at initial stage, i suggest that the whole house will be sold and share the the money to all of them, let them go and build their own house by them self"greedy people" they don't even know the price of blocks or cement at the market

IN MY VIEW.... SINCE THE FIRST WIFE HAS NO MALE CHILD AT LIST SHE WILL NOT BE LEFT TO DIE IN HUNGER, THEREFORE I FEEL THAT THE PROPERTY OF THE LATE HUSBAND SHOULD SHARED BETWEEN THE TWO WOMEN, SO THE FAMILY OF THE FIRST WILL TAKE THEIRS AND SHEAR WHITEN THEN SELF, AND THE SECOND WIFE SOULED AS WELL TAKE THEIRS AND SHEAR WHITEN THEM SELF, CAUSE MALE CHILD OR FEMALE CHILD AL ARE OF THE SAME FATHER, SO THEY ALL HAVE RIGHT OVER THEIR FATHERS PROPERTY,

So what the man does not have any my son. But to be fair all children are entittle to the Will of there father so forget about male or female. They all have equal right
in yoruba land is like that but in igbo land is not..................because women are not suppose to remain in their father's house for certain age mean while if they are given that right to inherit some the father's property they mighty feel comfortable remaining in their father's house.

Denying the female children their right of inheritance, means denying the first wife her right in her husband property.
TREASURE...................... u mean the woman will stay in her husband house and also in her father's house............ ok that means they will bear children in both families to maintain the status of their inheritance................hhhhhhmmmmmmmmmm

well this can be term as injustice... But the old igbo tradition can be bend in a situation where the man has alot of properties just as someone commented here.  some can be given to the girl child but in a situation where it just one house... am sorry to all my lady friends Grin the property goes to the son irrespective of his age. My mum was a victim of this too and she took it in good faith....

But the good tin is if it just one wife and all girls affairs the property belong to the woman till her death and it will now becomes a family affair where the most senior of the kins men control the affair of the said property, but this doesn't mean that the daughters does not have a say in the issue but it just that their voice may not be heard in some wicked families..... This is the more reason modern and educated igbo men have wills that represent  them after they have gone......The best legacy any igbo man can give a girl child is strong educational backbone so that in the future she wouldn't lack... father's property or not.....
guy thanks joor..........

You are right, but from what I was told, in my area, men give women some shares of the wealth. It is not 50/50, but they give them something which is better than nothing. Yes, the law is still in the books, but most people do not follow that old law. For example if the dead man had lands and a house, the woman is given a portion of the land.
a portion of land to do what in ur father's house? ur encouraging her to come back from her husband house to come and leave with u and drag her right as member of the family

Our  Nigerian law should and must be changed. Female children should get share of the family inheritance.
In this 21st century, there are so many things that men do that women can do better.
then let woman marry u to her family........................is better

We should be talking of "making property" instead of "how to share it". It is the beauty of every woman to answer her husband's name. So, in whose name will the property inherited from father be labelled? The best property a female can get from her father is "good education, nice upbringing and happy marriage to a good man". "The rest na jara"! Africa's wisdom of discouraging women from thinking of inheriting father's property is to make them focus on taking care of their husbands and children. In some cultures in Africa, the first sons of the daughters can be given some of their maternal father's property, including chieftaincy titles. As for the question raised here, it is important for the family members to designate one of the houses as "family house" so that the first wife and her daughters can always use it. In fact, the sons of the second wife should also see their step mother as "their mother" and must take care of her as well. That is the beauty of African family life. Read my article on "Matriarchal  Primogeniture" (Lagos Historical Review, 2009) to see details on some aspects of African inheritance system.

Supposing There Were No Male Children In A Family, Only Female Children; Does It Mean That A Family's Inheritance Should Be Transferred To A Family With Male Children? Of Course "NOT"

The Very First Question We Need To Ask Ourselves Is:

Are Female Children Human Beings Just Like Male Children? If Yes, Then Female Children Definitely Must Share In Family Inheritance….

                                                                                                                                                 CJ, 2012.

THIS IS VERY SIMPLE IN ISLAM, THE ENHERITANCE WILL BE GIVEN TO BOTH MALE AND FEMALE, EVEN IF SHE IS MARREIED SHE WILL INHERIT HER FATHER AND MOTHER.BUT THE FEMALES WILL GATE HALF OF MALE'S INHERITANCE,AND IF THE SHARING IS IMPOSSIBLE LIKE HOUSES IN THAT CASE THEY WILL SALE THE HOUSES AND SHARE THE MONY.
