The National Secretariat of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), yesterday insisted on posting corps members to troubled states in some parts of the country, protests not withstanding.
It has therefore urged corps members to first report to the orientation camps of the states of their primary assignment and later apply for deployment saying no request for change of posting to deployed states would be attended to at the Directorate Headquarters.
NYSC authorities in Abuja, said it had empowered state coordinators to attend to relocation requests in their respective states.
The NYSC also said it had concluded arrangement with the state governments to put adequate security measures in place to safeguard the lives of corps members posted to their states.
Director of Public Relations, Mrs. Abosede Aderibigbe, who made this known yesterday in Abuja, said, considering the current security situation in some parts of the country that had resulted to corps members rejecting being posted to such areas, the directorate had empowered state coordinators to attend to requests for redeployment. She, however, maintained that the NYSC guidelines for acceding to such requests remain marital or health related issues.
Aderibigbe in a statement made available to Daily Sun, stated that: "This is to inform all 2012 Batch 'B' Corps members and the general public that state governments and the NYSC operators had put in place, measures to guarantee the security to lives and properties of corps members deployed to camps for the ongoing orientation course.
"Prospective corps members should therefore proceed to their respective camps for induction into the noble scheme.
"However, those who have genuine reasons to seek for relocation out of their states of posting, should register first in their states of deployment and then submit application there for consideration.
"The two grounds for consideration remain marital (for those who are married) and Health (for those with extreme medical ailments)
"Please note that no request for change of posting to deployed states would be attended to at the directorate headquarters, Abuja as state coordinators have been empowered to attend to relocation requests."
