Tribunal upholds Bayelsa gov’s election

The Bayelsa State Elections Petitions Tribunal on Wednesday declared that Governor Seriake Dickson was validly nominated by the Peoples Democratic Party and was qualified to contest as its candidate in the April 2011 elections.
The tribunal headed by Justice Muhammad Ibrahim delivered the judgment in Yenagoa in a petition filed by the governorship candidate of Change Advicacy Party, Umoru Kubor.
The tribunal dismissed the petition for lack of merit and also described the reliefs sough by Kubor and the grounds for his suit as “ridiculous.”
