The presidents of three student unions in Ondo State (South-West Nigeria) have been reported dead in an autocrash on Owo-Akure Road.
They are the presidents of the student unions of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (Dapo Awopegba); Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo (Abiodun Akintola); and Ondo State School of Midwifery, Oyinkansola Olootu.
They died on their way back to their institutions from Abuja, where they had gone to witness the presentation of an award to the state governor, Olusegun Mimiko, and some other eminent Nigerians by the National Association of Nigerian Students.
According to the spokesman for the state police command, Aremu Adeniran, they died in a lone accident at Emure Ile junction on the expressway on Friday night around 8p.m. He added that the accident was as a result of over speeding.
The students perished when their car got involved in an accident at Emure Ile junction in Ondo State.
Their corpses have been deposited in a morgue while those who sustained injuries are receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Center in Owo.
Students of the Federal University of Technology in Akure today shut down major highways in the state to protest the death of their colleagues. Governor Mimiko made a late-night visit to the campus to calm down the restive students.
Common sense is indeed not common.

Over speeding...? When will Nigerian Road Safety help to minimize deaths in Nigerian roads by applying cameras and videos on the roads, also giving tickets to those over speeding.... They only focus on pocket money and doing other odd jobs...

When they realize that money aint about everything. We were born with nothing but ourselves and we'll leave the Earth with nothing but ourselves. Cuz that's what God will judge not how much cash, houses, and Lamborghini you got. These ppl that died, they had to leave everything behind. Even if you're rich with mansions, you gotta leave all that behind when your time will come. All that will burn when the world ends. Bible said love your neighbors. Your neighbors are those you'll see in heaven (if you make it) not money

Dlimelite; i accepted what you wrote but i disagree with you concerning above in QUOTE. Your neighbors are human being that still alive NOT dead. Your neighbors are those around you in this world NOT in Heaven. Because we have to show that love here in earth before Heaven. Many of the time we don't think about how we live till we have a second thought....

When i said that Nigerian government should wake up; it means growing in advance like countries. Installation of computer devices on the roads, houses, shopping malls, building and other public places will help them to minimize work load or stress. Someone who called himself or herself a traffic police stand in the hot weather of about 40 degrees commanding traffics. Risking their lives under the sun; why not install traffic lights and teach people how to obey them...? I have many to say but let me stop here...
