never thought i'd ever be arguing this, but here goes...

so i saw a comment on one of the confession pages about women not supposed to do ANY sorta chores, they're pretty much supposed to just sit around while the men bust their butts off working.I'll copy n paste n excerpt from the comment so y'all can get the idea.

"So don't you(men) have your own hands to cook the meals?..why must you depend on a female to do that for you?,..We are made to make men complete and not serve them..Our daily routines are shopping, getting our hairs n nails done..getting massaged and visiting weekly spa salons...and you as men, are supposed to make sure that those things are taken cared of on a regular base, so instead of asking whats for dinner..ask how did the day at the mall..or the spa went?.."

may sound like a joke but the girl was pretty darn serious.Just need to know if all y'all ladies think like this, and if the fellas are a'ight with this sorta thing.Over to y'all...

y'all dont "belong" there, its jus lyk a job description for being a mom/wife.dont mean a brothr cant cook for y'all, but that y'all should just be sittn around lookin' pretty sounds a tad selfish(not to mention lazy...)

nah..pretty is the term for it not lazy. So where is it written that chicks should be the ones cooking and cleaning? It's an old tradition that was made up and everyone followed..Infact i always make it known to any man that i don't intend to cook when we marry.. and now that i though about it..thats always my first statement to em..*i don't cook..don't know how to..and don't intend on learning either* Cheesy Cheesy

let's say i agree with you that it's an "old tradition"(for the record,EVERY culture in the world, past and present, acknowledge the fact that women have certain roles to play, and goin to the spa aint one of em{nufn wrong wif it thou}),whats the justification for discarding it? I mean, cuz we ryd cars n not horses, n wear jeans n not wrappers, don't mean we're better or wiser than they were.besyds, they weren't STUPID,so they had reasons for havin such "traditions" in the first place

kk vixen is a tad bit right in saying it was an old tradition.... and in a way i think this whole thing is  kinda sexist.
i do love cooking and cleaning and all those other chores that women are "SUPPOSED"  to do, but if you think about it...who ever said women were made to do all this things. Huh?
but that does not give us ,as women, the right to sit around the house and become lazy. women have always been seen as the neat, clean and motherly specie of the human race and theres nothing wrong with that cuz i think its a compliment on our part. it only becomes wrong when men start make and force us do this things like we are slaves.
i think it has to do with the way we were brought up as african women and are expected to carry it on as a tradition to of future generation.

i think it depends on which context the guy/husband takes it..if a woman cooks and does other household chores she should be appreciated and told how excellent a job she is doing, because a woman cooking is not any man's right but a priviledge, also keeping house is not as easy as most men think it is and i personally think it should be classed as a salaried job under the law, having said that i think no woman should wait on her husband for money and what not because he might sort our your needs and all that, but if supposing he decides to get a divorce one day and u dont have any savings?she ll lose out especially if u do not own your property and theres like 4 kids on the whole i think both of em should appreciate each other and there wont be any beef
