A 35-year old senior bank staff, Nnaemeka Onyegbule has been charged before Ebutte Metta Magistrate’s court Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria for allegedly stealing his employer’s $200,000 inside a plane. The equivalent of money he allegedly stole was N32 million. The court where he is standing trial for conspiracy and stealing ordered that he should be remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri Apapa, Lagos.

We gathered that Nnaemeka’s employer, Access Bank Plc asked him to take the money from Abuja to  a Lagos branch. He was handed over the box containing the money and key and escorted to Abuja Airport en route to Muritala International Airport, Lagos with heavy security.

At the Abuja Airport, he boarded Arik Air plane while the security was waiting for him at Lagos airport to escort him to his destination. When the bank management counted the money, $200,000 was missing. He reportedly told the management that he opened the box after he suspected that some one might have tampered with the money inside the plane.

The management handed him over to the police at SCID panti, Yaba as suspect because he was the only person with the key.
He was charged to court for conspiracy and stealing under sections 409 and 285 of the criminal code Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.

He pleaded not guilty. The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Chrisiana Adesola-Ikpatt granted him bail in the sum of N5 million with two sureties in like sum.

The matter was adjourned til 8 October, 2012. He was remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, Lagos until he meets his bail conditions.

Let's Face It!! Where In The World Does A Bank Transfer Money In Cash? Instead Of The Bank To Transfer The Said Sum Of Money By Technological Means Of Money Transfer Which Is The Only Safe Means Of Fund Transfer, They Gave The Money To An Employee In Cash. Is There Any Logic In This Scenario? Unprofessional Banking. It's A Shame. There Is More To The Story.

Naijapals and the story,if the people that should be encouraging cashless policy are now involved in this volume of cash movement, then i think Nigerians and CBN Governor in particular should ask questions. It appears that the bank surely does not want the transaction to appear in the books in any way.it’s surely not a genuine transaction.i can say that naijapals News have lied,I think Access Bank has paid you to tell the story in this manner.Naijapals news you don’t call some one guilty for a case still in court. Why don’t you give the whole facts of the story instead of just saying what you think was the fact,Why don't you tell us how much the whole money was.The bank in question did allow the person inquestion to travel with a large sum of money without declaring at the airline ,In case you have forgotten we are in now in cashless society so such an amount of money could have been transferred.Have you even questioned the so called suspect,we need to know the total amount involved, and not how much was missing. So many facts has been distorted already.and it seems this is a paid advert from Access Bank.stop spreading allegations that are not true.
