
A 78-year-old man, Oseni Omoyele, and two drivers, Ezenwa Onunaku(35) and Casmir Okafor(38), were on Thursday brought before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly conspiring to steal two cargo containers.
Onunaku and Okafor were allegedly contracted to transport reams which were packaged in the containers from Apapa to Ojota on February 16.
The police said after successfully delivering the goods, the duo diverted the empty containers worth N1.8m and allegedly sold them to Omoyele, a dealer in containers.
The charge sheet stated, “That you Onunaku and Okafor did conspire together within the Lagos magisterial district to steal two 40-feet containers valued N1.8m being property of APM Shipping Company.
“That you Omoyele did buy two 40-feet containers from Ononaka and Okafor knowing full well that they were stolen.”
When their plea was taken, they all pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate B.A. Sonuga, admitted the three accused to bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
