Prior to Friday, August 3, 2012, Obi Emelonye, the producer of Last Flight to Abuja and his team, might not have expected a carnival-like premiere with much style, color, glitz and more importantly a heavy representation of the business community, but that was what happened last Friday at Genesis Deluxe Cinema, Lekki, Lagos, venue of the much talked about premiere.
Strutting the red carpet were celebrities like Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, one of the stars of the movie, Kunle Afolayan, 9ice, Julius Agwu, AY Makun, Skillz of JJC fame, Jeffrey Daniels, Oge Okoye, Halima Abubakar, Chinezie Anyanene, Omoni Oboli, Mahmoud Ali Balogun, Teco Benson, Celine Loader, Uru Eke, Anthony Monjaro, Charles Granville, Vivian Ejike, Femi Brainard and a host of other celebrities.
However, the premiere of Last Flight to Abuja was not an all-celebrity-alone affair as the corporate world was also duly represented by members of staff of Diamond who were led to the event by no other person than the Managing Director, Dr. Alex Otti; the CEO of UBA, Mr. Phillips Oduoza; Mr. Ernest Nduke; members of staff of foremost Nigerian hardware company, Zinox computers and the Lagos state commissioner for Finance, Mr. Adetokunbo Abiru. The academic community was also duly represented in the person of the former vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Ibidapo-Obe and his wife.
Present at the Genesis deluxe Cinema to report the event were international media: Reuters; Cable News Network, (CNN); Nigerian Television Authority, (NTA); Silverbird Television, Galaxy Television, Television Continental, ONTV, Excite TV, Goldmyne Entertainment and journalists from the print media.

Obi Emenloye has done well with the 'Last Flight To Abuja' Movie. I'm really proud of him. I believe he is going to get better as the years roll by. I watched him being interviewed recently and he came across as a man with a lot of ideas. His other Movie 'Mirror Boy' was also a Box Office Success. Our Film Producers should start working towards turning Novels written by Nigerian Authors into Movies. I'm talking about books like 'The Passport of Mallam Ilia' ( Cyprian Ekwensi ), 'The Boy Slave' ( Kola Onadipe ), 'The Birthday Party' ( Segun Adebanjo ) etc. Nollywood is surely on the rise. Cheers.
