The federal government has announced plans to establish world class hospitals and diagnostic centres in Nigeria as part of efforts to ensure that quality medical care is made available to all Nigerians.
The Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu announced this in Abuja on Tuesday while inaugurating the Ministerial Committee for the unlocking of the private sector potential to establish world class hospitals and diagnostic centres in Nigeria.
The Minister acknowledged that “government alone cannot provide all the health facilities needed to provide adequate healthcare services to all Nigerians.”
The chairman of the 21-member committee, the former Managing Director UBA, Mr Tony Elumelu, in his response, promised to ensure that the associated failure to provide quality medical services is addressed in order to curtail the increasing cases of persons seeking medical treatment outside the country.
