I don't think it's really a bad idea to introduce the #5000 note as that could help when moving some large funds about. However my only concern here is why change the regular 5,10,20 and 50 naira notes to coins?  We all witnessed what happened after 50kobo and #1 notes were replaced with coins some yrs back. That action only caused a high inflation as some stuffs that were been sold for those respective amount were all raised to #5, and even market women would not accept those coins as they fear they would lose them on a regular basis.  I have this fear that the country would witness a high level inflation rate should the proposed plan of phasing out 5,10,20 and 50 naira  notes are been carried out. For instance the regular sachet water (pure water) that are presently been sold at #5 or #10 could rise to #100 for just 1, and so would other food stuffs. Now the poor masses 'll be the ones at the receiving end as the rich wouldn't feel it much.  Jonathan should not allow himself to be push around anyhow into sanctioning some not properly tot out decisions. And Sanusi too ought to ve done some research and try to get the view of the people first hand before embarking on issues like this.

Good thinking, inflation will be so high it its introduced.  Let him go and stop boko haram in the north as a chieftaincy title holder before talking about N5,000 note.  Bh is the nation's headache for now not currency.
is he not part of BH? he was an Al-Majiri and was an Abacha boy.   so am not surprise.

In the end, the senate will support that because it helps their stealing more cash, they blocked Soludo's making 20naira the highest because it would not help them.

IT QUITE OBVIOUS NOW THAT THE S0 CALL NIGERIAN LEADERS ARE LESS CONCERNED ABOUT THE MASSES THERE ARE OTHER UPROARING ISSUES IN THE COUNTRY WHICH NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION SUCH AS BOKO HARAM SECT WHICH ARE KNOWN TO BE CLAIMING LIFES OF THE INNOCENT AND DEFENCELESS CITIZEN OF THE COUNTRY, AND EVEN THE RATE OF POVERTY IN THE COUNTRY WHICH NEEDS TO BE ADEQUATELY ADRESSED....INSTEAD WHAT THIS SO CALLED BASTARD POLITICIAN ARE DOING IS CUNNINGLY LOOKING FOR AWAY TO STEAL THE MONEY IN MASS...AND THE SO CALL ABOKI.....LAMIDO WHOM SUPPOSE TO BE IN THE NORTH REARING CATTLE BECAUSE THOSE ARE THE TRADE THEIR GENERATIONS ARE BEST KNOWN FOR I WONDER WHAT A DUMB MOTHERphyukER LIKE HIM IS DOING IN SUCH A POSITION... BECAUSE IF HE HIS NOT A DUMB LAMNED MOTHERphyukING THIEF HE SHOULD BE THE ONE TO GO AGAINST THE MOTION OF INTRODUCING THE SO CALLED 5,000 NAIRA NOTE........AND THE MOST ANNOYING THING IS, THIS GODFORSAKING CHEATERS (LEADERS) OF NIGERIA THEY ALL TRAVEL TO THE DEVELOPED COUNTRY BUT INSTEAD OF THEM TO EMULATE THE GOOD THING ABOUT THOSE COUNTRY, ALL THEY COULD DO IS TO INTRODUCE THE ASPECT WHICH WILL AFFECT THE MASSES AND ENRICHES THEIR POCKET.....TO THE MOTHERphyukER SO CALLED LAMIDO, THIS IS A PUBLIC QUESTION, AMONG THOSE COUNTRIES ABROAD WHICH Y'ALL STILL  NIGERIAN  MONEY TO FOR AN HOLIDAY OR A VACATION, OR THOSE WHICH Y'ALL USE OUR STOLEN MONEY TO SEND THOSE YOUR SO CALLED BASTRAD CHILDREN WHICH Y'ALL WILL NEVER BENEFIT ANY GOOD THING FROM IN AS MUCH AS Y'ALL ARE MAKING YOUR CHILDREN LIVE A COMFORTABLE LIFE AT THE EXPENSIVE OF THE MASSES..ABROAD,HAS EVEN OVER A NOTE OF A HUNDRED IN RESPECTIVE OF THEIR CURRENCY IN CIRCULATION. EVEN IN AMERICA HERE ,WHEN YOU TAKE A HUNDRED DOLLAR BILL (NOTE) TO THE GROCESSERY STORE THEY WILL MAKE SURE THEY CROSS IT WITH A MARK SO AS TO BEABLE TO IDENTIFY YOU WITH THE CCTV CAMERAL INCASE IF IT TURNS OUT TO BE FAKE BECAUSE THE BILL (100 DOLLARS NOTE) IS NOT COMMON IN CIRCULATION; AMERICANS HARDLY KNOW THE FAKE,...OR BASTARD MR  SANUSI THE WAY YOU WERE TAUGHT IN SCHOOL ON HOW TO REGULATE CURRENCY IN OTHER NOT TO BRING ABOUT INFLATION AND RENDERED THE CURRENCY WORTHLESS IS BY INTRODUCING A HIGHER DENOMINATION......LAMNED MOTHERphyukER.......RULLERS MY FOOT ABOKI ODEE- OLE (THIEF)

This fool just want to make carrying of cash easier for his boko haram brothers.he is so arrogant and thinks nigeria belongs to muhamed that's why he stupendously gave out 100 million naira to his terrorist pigs of a brothers ! Someone should stop this thief from achieving his evil plans !

Sanusi should bear in mind that if he wants to stabilise the economy of Nigeria, her should introduce the 100 naira bill there should be no 1000 naira,500.and 200.
if he could meet up with such monetary idea Nigeria surely would be a country where you dont need to change naira to dollars any more because sooner or later the
value of Naira would be same with dollars..

check out the most advance countries in the world...the highest denomination of currency is just 100...these includes countries like America,Canada,Malaysia. Bahrain,England, and EURO at large...

SANUSI take note pleaseeee

the fact of introducing such currency value with the women faces wasn't that bad....becos nigeria is a country made by women....we can all remember flora shaw,Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti ecc---i just think it's a way of givin' women the right that they deserve since in nigeria men treat women like their personal object.....but before they do that cbn should think of how to brazz up the economy by rintroducin' the coins...it's of big use though nigerians are not really use...they should try give back the coins then u will see the monetary improvement!
