Kate Middleton just can't catch a break with her clothing of choice (or, uh, lack thereof) lately.
According to a report in the Telegraph, the Duchess accidentally offended locals by wearing the wrong dress during an official dinner in the South Pacific.
The tiered strapless pink dress is a traditional garment from the Cook Islands. The issue? WillKat's royal dinner reception was in the Solomon Islands—a difference spanning 3,000 miles of ocean—oops.
The mix-up wasn't the Duchess' fault, though. She and Prince William were all set to wear Government-approved get-ups, when an overenthusiastic official from their welcoming committee made a very unofficial visit to their room—filling it full of gifts and goodies, including the floral pink frock.
A spokesperson from Government House of the Solomon Islands released the following statement about the ordeal:
'We are incredibly frustrated that this situation has come about and see Kethie [the welcoming committee official] as entirely to blame. It was completely inappropriate for her to go to Their Royal Highnesses' room, which she filled with various things, causing confusion."
Who knew such a pretty pink dress could cause this much calamity?
