Following the collision of an IRS Airlines aircraft with an abandoned truck at the Nmandi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, the management of the airlines and Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), have accused each other of negligence and professional misconduct. The Punch newspaper reports that the management of IRS complained that the truck – a gully emptier which belongs to a Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria contractor, was left precariously on the taxiway after falling into a drainage, while a statement by FAAN’s General Manager, Corporate Communications, Mr. Yakubu Datti claimed that an Arik Pilot told Capt. D. Kelly of IRS of an obstruction on the taxiway towards Runway 18L which felt he could manoeuvre the obstacle by his own judgment but this failed because the tip of the wing of the aircraft collided with the truck.
