Prof. Promise Okpala, the Registrar, National Examinations Council (NECO), has urged journalists to identify and expose centres where mass examination malpractice take place, popularly called “miracle centres’’.

He made the call at a news conference in Minna on Wednesday. According to him, the council would tackle such cases with the Ministry of Education to ensure that such centres did not exist again.

“If you see where miracle centres exist in the country, write to expose them so that we will bring them to book’’, Okpala appealed to newsmen.

He noted that the examination body has no idea of such centres and where they were located, stressing, however, that “our centres are properly accredited for our kind of examinations’’.

Okpala noted that the ministry and NECO were interested in knowing the location of such centres and their proprietors in order to take legal action against them.

He appealed to stakeholders in the education sector to report such centres to the nearest police station or NECO office close to them. (NAN)
