The Supervising Councillor for water and sanitation in Matazu Local Government Area of Kastina state, Hajiya Hadiza Ibrahim has been sacked by the First Lady of the state, Hajiya Fatima Ibrahim Shema for misconduct and unruly behavior.
Hajiya Shema, who was the only female Councillor at the Matazu Local Government transition management committee was sacked by the Wife of the state Governor through a letter of “termination of appointment” dated 27th December, 2012.
The letter signed by a staff officer at Matazu Local Government, Bala Lawal Yaro, reads in part; “I am directed by the Office of Her Excellency, Hajiya Dr. Fatima Ibrahim Shehu Shema, to issue you this letter of termination in view of your unkindly like misconduct and behavior.”
Recently, the wife of the Local Government Chairman and the sacked Councillor engaged each other in a brawl at the council secretariat.
Furthermore, the Chairman’s wife allegedly slapped the sacked Councillor at the office of the LG’s Director of
Administration during a meeting to resolve some grievances.
Confirming that the directive to sack the Councillor originated from the First Lady’s office, the Chief Press Secretary to the First Lady, Mallam Abdulazeez said, “yes the letter emanated from the first lady’s office.”
However, a senior staff of the Local Government who pleaded anonymity faulted the Councillor’s sack, affirming that there was procedural error since the directive emanated from the first lady’s office.
Common sense is indeed not common.

was the councilor elected or appointed? does the state have a system of laws? Is the so called first lady's office an executive one, and authorized to sack an elected ward councilor? What court of law determined the councilor's conduct as unrully?
