There was commotion in Kuje, one of the six Area Councils in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, over the discovery of petroleum products in a well some inhabitants identified as kerosene on Tuesday night.
Sources indicated that the well is located in an area not too far from the Council Secretariat.
P.M.NEWS gathered that as soon as the discovery was made, hundreds of residents flooded the area carrying containers to fetch petroleum product from the well.

Eyewitnesses told P.M.NEWS that residents of the area were still busy fetching the product form the well till early yesterday morning.
However, the area has been sealed off by a combined security team made up of policemen, Nigeria Civil Defence Corps personnel and soldiers.
Officials of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, said they will react to the discovery after analysis of sample taken from the well.
Kerosene, known as DPK, was found in a water well in Kuje town, on Tuesday, 8 January, at about 10pm. Paramilitary and military officials, Wednesday morning, cordoned the place to prevent people, who had been fetcing the product over night, from doing so. Kuje is about 42km from the city.
