Barely twenty four hours after he insisted that the federal government will not grant pardon to Islamists insurgents of northern extraction, President Goodluck Jonathan has come down hard on Borno elders regarding the proliferation of violence in the state.

Contrasting the de-escalation of terror attacks in states like Yobe, Bauchi, Gombe and Kano with that of Borno, the president observed the case in the latter is that the antagonisms manifested in bellicose attacks has been on the rise.

Jonathan explained that Borno would continue to have security challenges unless the elders rose to condemn the activities of Boko Haram.

Jonathan made the assertion at the close of his two-day meeting to the tension filled states of Borno and Yobe during a town Hall meeting with elders and leaders of Borno State whom he urged to sign an agreement with him as a precondition for the withdrawal of members of the military Joint Task Force (JTF).€€
