In the second picture, I don't see much hair having been cut off. 

Normally when "celebrities" do this (it's common outside Nigeria), we are shown the condition/length of the persons hair. This is so we can judge how much of a sacrifice they are really making.  Sorry, call me a cynic, but I am not convinced she had a healthy head of hair in the first place! Due to the poor rating of the naira, anyone can basically boost of a "million" not that I believe they paid such.

Anyway on a good note. They an now allow their hair to grow back naturally (it will take some time as they are not that young) and this time take better care of it.
