President Jonathan honours Nigerian athlete, Blessing Okagbare

President Jonathan today September 11th honoured Africa's fastest woman, Blessing Okagbare. The Olympic and world Athletics Championship medalist was rewarded for her impressive performance at the recently concluded 2013 World Athletic Championship in Moscow. Blessing won the silver medal in the long jump and also placed third in the Women’s 200m race.

President Jonathan said Blessing, who is Africa's 100m record holder, and her coach would be considered for national honours and announced a cash gift of N3 million for her and N3.5million for her coach.

Oh, it now they remembered her?

I think, the government is just playing to the gallery. It is too late to change the perception of the way we Nigerians see our government's handling of sport.
