Can you be objective for once and stop defending people blindly? Is Mikel the only defensive midfield player? Xabi Alonso, Yaya Toure etc have all scored loads of goals within a short period of time. By the way, do you even call Mikel a DM? Someone who gives square and back passes, lol. Take it or leave it, Mikel hasn't developed as a player. Ask him, he'll tell you this isn't where he dreamed to be. As for Messi, Messi does what even Mikel will never dream of doing.
