The Ministry of Aviation has announced that the Embraer aircraft with registration number SCD 361 that crashed in Lagos on Thursday had 27 persons onboard.

The Special Assistant, Media, to the Minister of Aviation, Mr. Joe Obi, in a statement said, “An Embraer
aircraft operated by Associated Airlines with Reg. No. SCD 361 en-route Akure from MMA, Lagos, crashed shortly after take-off at about 9.30am local time. The plane had 20 passengers and seven crew members on board.”

The plane was said to have crashed landed shortly after it suffered an engine failure near an airport fuel depot and killing at least nine people, officials said. “It was going to Akure (in the southwest). The engine failed on takeoff and it crash-landed and burst into flames,” said Supo Atobatele, spokesman for the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency.
