In this case, I think the problem starts with the first person. Some of us believes, the fact we rate ppl first in our lives means than person must act according to how we want it.
Different ppl have different way of reaction to things. Example, when two ppl are in a relationship one alway believes he loves the other more and becomes possesive which in many cases do allow their emotion overide their common sense. Before you know it, they are saying goodbye. I only thin .. no matter how you love someone, you should learn how to keep your calm and don't overreact cos you might do it wrongly.
