But why is she 'taking a part for a whole'? what i think she should say is that she has not yet come accross a romantic nigerian man. The question is is she herself romantic with her XL weight?

Thank god u know say na only yoruba men no dey romantic, cuz we igbos dey romantic and caring well, well.
.

Read the article one more time. she is referring to african men.
I think she is very wrong for two reasons
1. what is her definition of romance?
2. How does she know that some men are not romantic?

I think her words appeared to be linking irresponsibility with moral standard. For God's sake, how will she compare our societal set up with the decandencies going on in Wthe estern world. She should continue with her research on this matter. She will find that, Oyinbo cultures were like ours before Satan struck through 'Women Liberation'.

PREACH WHAT,LET HER SPEAK FOR HERSELF....IF SHE CAN NOT FOUND LOVE FROM HIS MAN SHE SHOULDN'T THINK ALL MEN TOOK THEIR WIVES AS SLAVES....WHAT DID SHE EXPECT WHEN SHE PUT WEALTH AND FAME ABOVE LOVE AS WELL A TRUE CHARACTER OF A REAL MAN.....IF SHE FEELS SHE CANNOT BE SUBMISSIVE TO HER MAN THEN LET HER KEEP DREAMING AND SEARCHING FOR THAT IMBECILE MAN SHE CAN POCKET AND REMOTE ANYTIME SHE FEELS LIKE.....MAN IS THE HEAD OF THE FAMILY AS CHRIST IS THE HEAD OF THE CHURCH......THAT IS OUR CHRISTIAN PRACTICE....AND SHE CANNOT DO OTHERWISE.....

Dear Angesco, the truth is that African or Black ladies are quite different from the western ones in their DNA and understanding of how relationships work. Who does not like to enjoy romance and sweetness. Unfortunately this is not how it works with you African ladies. Instead of appreciating and reciprocating, their hungry and stupid nature starts seeing it as an opportunity for emotional blackmail to gain things thinking that you love them too much which is usually a fatal mistake if you understand our own nature as well. I take myself as an example, I started out with childish naivity before I got burned and realized that our fathers are wise and right after all in their dealings with you black women. A donkey appreciates a whip on its back only. After correcting myself and apologising my brothers who were cautioning me from the beginning, me and my partner are happier than we have ever been before and there is mutual respect
Smiley You have a point .

Correction. It is not just Yoruba men. African men appear to show little if any affection to their wives in public. They are afraid of being looked on as being weak. Our men have a lot of esteem issues that need to be addressed. Everything is done with a heavy hand to show who is in "charge!"  Hence the death of the 3 year old for wetting the bed!

To make themselves feel good they go for ladies who are fair skinned in the hope that their family and friends will envy them and give them some "street credibility."

But its good to see some strong women coming up in  Nigeria (I am not talking about those in govt) who despite everything are standing tall and letting the husband know that it tskes two to make a marriage work and not dictatororship!

However there are still women  who quote tradition and culture for living subservient lives in their marriages!

In the long run, we all chose what makes things work for us. And this is why certain parts of the world are afraid of female education!
Ure ryt to an extent. But frm what ive learnt abt men, especialy if ure dealing wit men dat truly luv u, not lust, dere are nigerian men who are willing to be romantic. Dnt expect a proud man to be romantic. No way. A proud man wil handle u anyhw he lyks. Dnt expect a man who is too traditionalistic to be romantic too. D issue of romance is new to our traditnal beliefs. Also men who r well travelled, broad minded can also be romantic bcos dey tend not to see tins in plain black n white. U have to watch out 4 d calibre of men dat come arnd u n choose d one who's ready to learn frm u in case he's nt romantic. Only humble and 21st century men can be romantic bcos dey are more sensitive 2 d needs of a woman. It al depends on d way u handle dat man. We stil have men dat are willing to bend 4 u. All u have to do is Express urself, tell him exactly wat u want n exactly how u wud like him to treat u frm d begining. Some men are flexible.
